Welcome Back Welcome Back

We are excited to have our new and returning friends in preschool. We have been working hard to learn the school routines. We are exploring the learning centers and each day our transitions are getting smoother. Thank you families for supporting us and helping us be prepared to learn every day.

Your child's teacher has invited you to the Creative Curriculum Family Engagement App. Once you download the app and accept the imitation, you will have access to our curriculum so that you can extend the learning at home. You will receive playlists of activities based on our curriculum studies and have access to ebooks and learning activities. We hope you enjoy

We are off to a great start of the school year. Children are excited to be in school with a classroom full of new things to explore. We are in The First Six Weeks Study where children are making new friends and becoming familiar with classroom rules/routines. For most children it is their first time being in a classroom and they are learning to adjust to their new environment.

At home you can talk to your child about what they did during the day. You can read books about making new friends. As a reminder, please label all of your child’s belongings. If you need to reach me you can email me: eacevedo@jamesburg.org

We have been reading a book called Goodbye Summer Hello Autumn by Kenard Pak. We noticed while playing on the playground that the wind has been bringing cooler air and we sometimes have needed to wear long sleeves outside. We have been strengthening our existing friendships by including new friends into our circles. The book All Kinds of Friends by Shelly Rotner and Sheila M. Kelly has given us ideas for different ways to communicate with one another.

We are excited to play during centertime in the block, dramatic play, small toys, science/discovery, art, sand, water and easel areas. It has been fun to discover the amazing materials we have in our classroom.

We love participating in large group activities such as story time. We are an incredibly musical group and love to sing. Down by the Bay is a class favorite.

Back to school night was informative and we appreciated the parents' involvement.

Read to your children at least 20 minutes a day. Include your child in discussions about what they are noticing on each page. Make reading to your child a daily priority., Reading is the BEST gift you can give to your child.

Hello Parents!

I am so excited to be teaching your child this school year! I am looking forward to getting to know each child and watching them learn, grow, and make new friends throughout the year. Mrs. Shames will be covering my maternity leave this fall until I return in January. For the first six weeks of school, our class will be completing The First Six Weeks study through Teaching Strategies. During this time, the children will focus on building a strong classroom community and becoming comfortable with their new routines. The students will be learning about: Our classroom routines, Class rules and expectations, Friendship and social skills, Playing and learning through centers, Sharing, Taking turns, Working together, Self-help and independence skills. These first few weeks are an important time for children to feel safe, confident, and comfortable in their classroom environment. Once we complete our current study, we will begin learning about Weather—how exciting! I am looking forward to a wonderful school year filled with learning, laughter, friendship, and fun!

Welcome to preschool and the 2026-2027 school year! We welcomed back many friends from last year and in addition, we welcomed one new friend! We currently have five students and two paraprofessionals in the classroom. Everyone continues to settle into their daily routines. We are learning to unpack backpacks, walk together in the hallway going to gym (Gym is every Monday) and walk together to the playground. On the playground, there are many friends to play with and socialize. At home, you can support your child by encouraging them to talk about what they see around them on their way to and from school. This is a great way to increase their language skills. Also, remember to “catch your child doing good things”. This means providing positive reinforcement when they are doing what they are supposed to be doing instead of just correcting them when they are mischievous. Any behavior you want to see more of, reinforce! This is a guiding principle of ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) that we use in the classroom.

We have begun a new school year and we are thrilled to welcome our students to our classroom. The children have been exploring our class and meeting new friends as we embark on another academic year. The children have been learning our classroom centers, materials, and our classroom schedule. How to share, take turns and be a part of a class community.

Throughout the year we will be exploring different in depth studies with the children and I encourage you to also be a part of their learning as well. I will be sending letters home informing you as to the topic and when these studies will occur. This is a great time to encourage your children to talk about what they have learned. As we learn new vocabulary words related to our study and facts.

I have no doubt that we will have an awesome year filled with the joy and excitement of learning.I look forward to working with you and your child throughout the year and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

We’ve had a wonderful start to the school year! The children have been working hard to become familiar with our classroom routines, expectations, and daily schedule. They have enjoyed exploring our many interest areas, including Blocks, Dramatic Play, Art, Toys and Games, Library, Writing, Discovery, Music and Movement, Easel, and Cozy Corner. It has been exciting to see the children express their creativity, curiosity, and imagination through their play and projects. The children have also been actively participating in our read-alouds and demonstrating an enthusiasm for books and stories. In the coming weeks, we will continue our Unit of Study, Building a Classroom Community, as we learn more about one another and practice working, playing, and learning together. At home, you can support your child by asking about their favorite part of the school day and enjoying a book together.
