Should You get a Pet?
Pets are fun and are an addition to your family. But not always the best. So do you want a pet? Here are some reasons you might or might not want one.
The Pro’s
Some pets can be like a dog, energetic, playful, and fun, like a cat, lazy,
fierce, and funny, or like a fish, solitary and calm. These are just some
examples. The pro’s (the good things) vary, depending on what the owner
wants. Some pro’s about pets that most people like, are that they can be
funny, playful, are good company, and can comfort you. Those like fish,
people like because they aren’t that crazy and they like seeing them swim
around.
The Cons
Not everything is good about pets. You need to clean up after them, look
after them, groom them, and make sure they are heathy. Of course this
depends if the owner or owners like to do that, but overall people don’t like
doing these things. Also the cons (the bad things) vary on what pet you
want or have.
So, based off of these pros and cons do you want a pet?

Cinco De Mayo
Do you know how Cinco de Mayo was created? No, well this is how. On May fifth, French troops under Élie Frédéric Forey’s command raided a city in Mexico called Puebla. When the people living in Puebla saw this, they immediately fought back. The French troops wanted to overtake the city for themselves. The battle took about six hours before Mexico had won. The Mexicans named the victory Cinco de Mayo which translates to the fifth of May.
Sure now you know how Cinco de Mayo was created, but do you know how to celebrate it? No again, well this is how. So to start off, dress with bright and vibrant suits and dresses and turn on mariachi (Mexican folk music). Then you set up a table with Mexican food and Avocado products and avocado itself. Last but not least, you will have to invite guests, dance, eat, and have fun.

Band, Orchestra, and Choir
The B.O.C.
There are many fun extracurricular activities at the Spencer Loomis school.By
the way what does B.O.C. mean? Well, it stands for Band, Orchestra, and
Chorus. Students can sign up for orchestra and chorus in 4th grade, but in 5th
grade you can sign up for band!
Band and orchestra
Some fun things in band and orchestra is that you get to play an instrument,
playing an instrument is fun and something not everyone will do. Also, in the
middle of the year band and orchestra gets to have a roller skating party!
Instrument
Playing an instrument doesn’t always mean blowing into metal or using a
bow. It can also mean using your body to sing, which can be your own
instrument! It does not need talent, it needs skill, which is talent... (I'm just
kidding!) Even if you’ve never sung before, You can join Choir to try it out!

The History of Valentine's Day
Valentines day takes place on February fourteenth, like any other Holiday like
Easter or Halloween it is only once a year for one day. On Valentine's Day, people express their love for one another by exchanging gifts, handmade cards-aka valentines-and treats which I included some at the end! There are many different popular traditions that connect with the day. Today it is very popular for students at school to share and exchange valentines with each other. So next time anyone gives you something on February 14th be sure to say thank you and happy Valentine’s Day!
The History of Valentine’s Day
Saint Valentine, also known as Valentinus, was a priest during the Roman Empire. He was sentenced to death for helping with marriage ceremonies for young soldiers after emperor Claudius ll made it a crime for young men to marry. While in jail, Saint Valentine healed the daughter of his jailer, which he might have been in love with. When his time came Valentine wrote her a goodbye letter and signed it “Your Valentine.” And that was the first Valentine written by saint Valentine himself. About 200 years later, after the death of
Valentine, Pope Gelasius named February 14th St. Valentine’s Day. Some believe that the date was chosen as an alternative to a mid-February pagan holiday called Lupercalia, a festival where young, unmarried women place their names into an urn and bachelors choose a woman to be paired with for the rest of the year.
