Welcoming our new teachers
A great addition to Greenfield High
News from Miss Goodchild
October is internationally recognized as Dyslexia Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing understanding and awareness of dyslexia. We will spend time this month learning about dyslexia and our brains, the strengths and talents that make us extraordinary. We will also spend time reviewing technology supports on the student iPads.
To show support, we encourage everyone to wear red on Thursday, October 8.

Tom's Special Talent By Kate Gaynor
"Tom isn't sure if he has any talents at all when he sees how good his friends are at writing and reading. But a school competition soon helps him to find his own very special talent!"
I love how this book shows that we all have a special talent. I like to focus on my students’ talents throughout the year. Celebrating what makes each student unique helps build their confidence and encourages them to take pride in who they are. When students recognize their own strengths, they often become more motivated to grow in other areas too. I also enjoy creating opportunities for them to share their talents with the class, which helps foster a supportive and encouraging classroom community.

Technology Support in the Classroom
Students have technology tools available on their school iPads to support their learning. Here are just a few ways our students use technology in the classroom.
Prizmo Go
Prizmo Go is an iPhone and iPad app that allows you to use your camera to capture text images. It functions as a specialized text scanner, allowing you to convert physical documents into digital, editable text. Key features include text-to-speech playback, language translation, customizable text selection, and VoiceOver support for accessibility. While the app is free, core functionalities like saving and exporting recognized text often require in-app purchases or a subscription.
Snap Type
SnapType is an app that allows students to take pictures of their worksheets and type their responses on their ipad instead. This is a great tool for students that struggle with writing.
Learning Ally
Learning Ally Audiobooks is an award-winning app designed for students who learn through listening. Students who have a reading deficit, are blind, visually impaired or have a physical disability receive equitable access to grade-level content at their fingertips. Students use their unique login credentials through Classlink, allowing them to download audiobooks to their personal online bookshelf, giving them 24/7 access to our game-changing assistive technology.
