MOE 21-22 Estimation of Compliance
June 22, 2022 (1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.): This session will address the topic of Maintenance of Effort Estimation of 21-22 Compliance. Maintenance of Effort (MOE) is a federal regulation that requires local educational agencies (LEAs, which includes ISDs and Open-Enrollment Charter Schools) to maintain their state and local expenditures for special education at a specified level from one fiscal year to the next. This fiscal requirement applies to all LEAs that receive Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Part B (IDEA-B) funds either directly from TEA or indirectly as a member of a special education shared services arrangement (SSA) whose Fiscal Agent receives the IDEA-B funds on their behalf.
Participants will gain an understanding of the IDEA-B MOE Compliance requirements and how to estimate their compliance for 21-22 as a proactive measure, before the fiscal year ends, so adjustments may be made, if necessary.
SEL Instructional Planning: Developing Effective and Efficient Lessons.
June 23, 2022 (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.): We will focus on best practices for evaluating language of a CLD student. Session will focus on both formal and informal data sources that can be used by speech language pathologists and educational diagnosticians determining language and cultural differences versus disorder. Practical tips and tools that can be utilized to evaluate language dominance and influence of culture on both classroom performance and standard scores. Evaluation teams are strongly encouraged but not required to register together for this session.
Roles of Teachers and Paraprofessionals: Working Cooperatively and Effectively
June 30, 2022 (8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.): While schools refer to support staff working with students by different titles such as paraprofessional, classroom aide, and para-educators, their support and assistance in the classroom is often critical to the overall success of classrooms as well as for individual students. In this professional development session, Marcia Rohrer and Nannette Samson offer guidelines and tips on working cooperatively by defining clear expectations and responsibilities as well as how to foster clear communication among all staff members. It is recommended that teachers and support staff attend this professional development together.
