Student Hunger Drive - The Need Has Never Been Greater
Hey Bulldogs!
Our Student Hunger Drive is happening now — and the need has never been greater.
KWQC recently reported that thousands of families in the Quad Cities are bracing for food insecurity as SNAP benefits end across Iowa. That means local food banks like River Bend are expecting a surge in families who can’t afford groceries.
Right here in Bettendorf, about one in three students already rely on free or reduced-price lunch. Hunger isn’t just a statistic — it’s our classmates, our neighbors, and families across our community.
If you want to understand how serious this is, check out the KWQC article on our local food banks and the impact of SNAP benefit cuts.
Student Hunger Drive Events
Color Run – Sun, Nov. 2 at 11 AM
Canvassing after the Color Run – Sun, Nov. 2 at 4 PM
Volleyball Tournament – Wed, Nov. 5 at 5:30 PM
Every can, every dollar, and every volunteer matters.
Bring donations, show your Bulldog Spirit, and help fight hunger in our community.
Because Bulldogs don’t back down — we give back!

Winter Weather Notifications & Decisions
As we begin to approach the chilly winter season, we want to take a moment to share how we make weather-related decisions to cancel, delay, or release early.
Why We Delay, Cancel, or Dismiss Early
Weather conditions (snow, ice, fog, or other natural occurrences) may vary around the district and can change quickly, so we make decisions based on various sources:
- We drive the roads to check the conditions of the roads throughout the district
- Direct conversations with:
- The National Weather Service
- Local School Districts
- District Operations Team to determine parking lot clearing times
- Scott County and the City of Bettendorf regarding road plow times
Note on Wind Chill
We will delay or close school for an “extreme cold warning”, not an advisory. If the warning is set to expire in the first couple hours of the school day, we will delay. If it is longer into the morning, we may cancel.
Weather Notifications
Families will be notified of a delay, early release, or cancellation in the following ways:
Phone Call
Text Message
Email
BCSD-branded social media (Facebook and Twitter)
BCSD website
Local media, including radio, websites, and television
Please take the time now to check your contact information and preferences. This is the information we use to contact you during inclement weather days and other emergency-related events. If you need to change your contact information, please do so through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
Making Up a Canceled School Day

Bettendorf Theatre Department Fall Play "26 Pebbles" - Nov. 7 & 8
The Bettendorf Theatre Department will proudly present 26 Pebbles at 7 pm on Fri., Nov. 7 and Sat., Nov. 8 in the BHS Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10. Purchase tickets
On December 14, 2012, 20 children and 6 adults died in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Following the tragedy, the community rallied together to care for and support each other as the world watched their suffering. "26 Pebbles" chronicles the experiences of the parents and community members of Newtown and Sandy Hook. The characters tell the story of their hometown: The experience of community events, the day of the shooting and their panic, the grief and trauma following the tragedy. Lauded for its compassion and message of healing, "26 Pebbles" shows how pebbles dropped in the pond can create a ripple effect for the rest of the world.
