Empowering Every Child to Succeed
November 8, 2024
No School on Monday, November 11th.
Principal Message:
Dear Hoover Elementary Families,
I hope this letter finds you well and excited about the progress our students are making at Hoover Elementary. We are dedicated to supporting each child’s academic growth and overall success, and one of the key ways we are achieving this is by providing valuable learning tools such as Lexia Core5, an evidence-based program aligned with the science of reading.
Through the use of Core 5, we are committed to ensuring that every child achieves grade-level reading proficiency by the end of the school year. We are proud to report that our students’ dedication to this program is already yielding great results! Since September, we’ve seen a 13% increase in the number of students reading at grade level. However, we recognize that there is more work to be done as 67% of our students are still working below grade level in the Lexia Program.
To help your child stay on track with their reading goals, we encourage you to make Lexia part of their daily routine at home. Aiming for 10-20 minutes each day on Lexia can make a substantial difference in their progress. Students can access the program using an iPad, Chromebook, or desktop computer, and your support with this daily practice can truly make an impact on their success.
Thank you for your continued partnership in making Hoover Elementary a place of learning and achievement for all. Together, let’s work to see all students reach their fullest potential this school year!
In Husky Pride,
Mollie Meyer, Principal
Early Release Day
Please be reminded Wednesday, November 13th is a two hour early release. Students will be dismissed from school at 12:30 pm. If your dismissal plans are different from a normal school day you MUST tell your students' homeroom teacher.
This month, we are short staffed and at this time have not been able to find substitute supervision. We are asking that folks who have access to alternate care, please consider those options. If you are willing to volunteer to help supervise, we would also gratefully accept the support.
If you need your student to stay until 2:30 pm you must register your child for supervision. We ask that you continue to register each month for early release supervision as many families' plans change. If your student attends ACES or YMCA you still need to register for child supervision each time.
Parents/Guardians that pick up students please pull up in the pick up line in front of the building on Marie lane. Students will be watching for you to pull up inside door number 1. We ask that you please refrain from picking up between 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm as our staff wishes to focus their time on engaging in meaningful activities with students. We understand that circumstances may change, but appreciate your help with this request.
If you need child care for your student between 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm for the upcoming Early Release Day, please fill out the form linked below. (If you would like to send a snack for after school please feel free to do so as lunch is served early.)

PTA October. APEX Fundraiser Update
APEX Fundraiser Update: Thank you to all for participating in our APEX Remix fall fundraiser! It was a huge success! Not only did our students learn about leadership and develop their leadership skills, they also were able to raise over $30,000 for enrichment opportunities. Our PTA and school community are so grateful for your support!
Next PTA Meeting: Please join us for our next PTA meeting on Tuesday, November 12th from 6-7pm in the Hoover Media Center.
Conference Meals: The Hoover PTA helps organize meals for our teachers during conferences. These meals are catered by local businesses. Please consider sponsoring conference meals by providing a monetary donation to help cover the cost through the link below. We know our teachers and staff greatly appreciate having meals provided on conference evenings when their days are long and schedules are packed.
Thank you!
