Mansion Avenue School Newsletter
September 11, 2026 edition
Take a look at what we did this week!
This year we will continue to work on Growth Mindset!
A growth mindset is the belief that our abilities and intelligence can grow through effort, practice, learning from mistakes, and trying new strategies. Instead of thinking, “I can’t do this,” a child with a growth mindset learns to say, “I can’t do this yet.” Challenges become opportunities to learn, and mistakes are viewed as an important part of the learning process—not something to be embarrassed by or avoided.
🌊 Under the Sea: We All Swim Together!
This year, we’re diving into an Under the Sea theme at Mansion Avenue School! Beneath the surface, every sea creature has a role to play—and just like the ocean, our school is strongest when we work together. In this school, we all swim together! 🐠
Throughout the year, we’ll celebrate teamwork, support one another, and remember that we are all part of something bigger than ourselves. Whether we’re navigating calm waters or facing a few waves, we’ll stick together, lend a fin, and keep moving forward—because there’s no better place to be than part of our MAS ocean!
From the Music Department
Let’s Make Some Music!
It’s time to make some music at Mansion Avenue! Choir sign-ups are happening now, so students interested in singing should be sure to join by seeing Mr. E. Today, our high school musicians are visiting for a special Band Assembly to introduce students to the exciting world of instruments.
Families are also invited to our Instrument Petting Zoo, hosted by Black Horse Music, on September 18 from 6:00–7:30 p.m. Students will have the chance to see, touch, and try out different instruments—who knows, your child may discover their next musical passion! 🎺🥁🎷 Reach out to Ms. Weaver to join the band.
Mark your calendars for Music Night at the AHS football game on October 16! Our choir will sing the National Anthem, and our band will have the incredible opportunity to perform alongside the AHS Marching Band. It’s sure to be a night filled with Mountain Lion pride and music! Let’s Go Band!
Cross County Connection Assembly Promotes Walking to School Safely
Our students recently participated in a Cross County Connection assembly focused on an important topic—walking to school safely! Students learned helpful tips for being safe pedestrians, including paying attention to their surroundings, using crosswalks, following traffic signals, and making smart choices when traveling to and from school. We appreciate Cross County Connection for helping our Mountain Lions build safe habits that they can use every day!
We also celebrated some achievements - One of our students won the bookmark contest so CCC printed the artwork on bookmarks that are being distributed to students all around the county. In addition, Mansion Avenue School won the GOLD Award for promoting safety while walking and biking to school. Way to go!
5th Grade Math Pilot
Some of our 5th grade students are piloting a new math program this year! This exciting opportunity allows teachers and students to explore new resources, activities, and strategies designed to support deeper mathematical thinking and problem-solving. As we pilot the program, our teachers will be gathering feedback and reflecting on what works best to support our students’ learning and success.
Ultimately, the work on the math pilot will help the district in choosing our next math resource.
