Aledo ISD End-of-Year Update
May 16, 2023
Message from Superintendent Dr. Susan Bohn
We’ve made it to the end of the 2022-2023 school year! Thank you for being so supportive of our students and educators. We are honored to have had the opportunity to serve your children this school year and we are incredibly grateful for your partnership.
From our Board of Trustees and all of us who are privileged to be Bearcat staff members, we hope you have a fun, relaxing and safe summer break.
Also, huge congratulations to our Class of 2023 grads, and we can’t wait to see the rest of our Bearcats for the first day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 16!
I have some important information to share, so please read all of this email for end-of-year and summer information.
I know this is a lot of information to take in; please do not hesitate to contact your child’s campus or me if you have any questions. Happy Summer 2023!
Truly,
Susan

Register by May 25 for 2023-24 School Year
With Aledo ISD’s rapid growth and because we are in the middle of hiring season and our administrative teams and counselors are hard at work already on master schedules and teacher and class assignments, having an accurate enrollment number for each campus is paramount. For this purpose, we ask that you please complete registration by the last day of school on Thursday, May 25!
For registration information for new or returning students, go to www.aledoisd.org/register, and for registration information for Pre-K or kindergarten, go to www.aledoisd.org/kinder. If you have questions or need assistance, please email registration@aledoisd.org.
We also ask that if you already know your non-12th-grade student will not be returning to Aledo ISD for the 2022-2023 school year, please email that information to the PEIMS clerk on your campus. For our parents of secondary students, registering your child now is different from the course selection process you completed earlier this semester; both must be completed for students to receive their schedules next year!
23-24 Transportation Registration Now Open
We have opened registration for transportation for the 2023-24 school year, and this year it's being done through the same system where you register your student for school. Please register in the Ascender Parent Portal. It is important when you are registering that you enter your address correctly with Street, Lane, Road, Way, etc. Please only register once.
On Monday August 14, 2023, you will be able to look at your student route information at the AISD website Transportation Bus Information. Username is your student ID# and Password is student date of birth XX/XX/XXX.
The transportation registration form will close on Monday, August 7 to prepare for the first week of school, and it will re-open on Monday, August 21. Due to our rapid growth and the impact on bus routes, you must register your child for transportation by August 7 for your child to have transportation on the first days of school. Please remember that whenever you register your child for bus transportation, they will be in the routing system and assigned a bus only after three full business days have passed.
District Devices + Library Books
District Devices
For our secondary students (6-12), please refer to campus emails for dates on when district devices/Chromebooks will be collected. The district needs to collect all Chromebooks from students before they leave for the summer, so if your student still has a school-issued device, please have them bring it to school the last week of school to return. A few reminders:
- Make sure to bring both the Chromebook and charger.
- Remove any stickers you have added.
- Wipe down the Chromebook keyboard, screen, and case with a damp cloth.
Please be aware that incoming 6th and 9th graders will not receive the same device next year. Everyone else will be receiving the same device. If you cannot return your device before summer, please take it to the front desk at the Aledo ISD Administration Building as soon as possible. Fees will be assigned for devices that are turned in damaged or not returned at all. Students who do not return their device will not be reissued another device for the 2023-2024 school year.
Library Books
Library books must also be returned this week. Campus librarians have been sharing late notices with teachers and students. Please look at home for any books that are still checked out and return as soon as possible. If your student finds a book checked out from another campus, please return to your current campus library. If library books are found during the summer they can be dropped off at the front desk of the Aledo ISD Administration Building. We will make sure the books get to the correct campus.
High School Transcripts
Final senior transcripts for graduates will be submitted electronically to designated universities and to their home address on Wednesday, May 31. If additional copies of transcripts are necessary, anyone may request a copy of his/her transcript by going through the Major Clarity app in ClassLink (directions for doing so are here) or by emailing sdjones@aledoisd.org or skessel@aledoisd.org.
Transcripts for rising seniors will be mailed to students on Wednesday, June 7. The counselors will also provide information regarding the college application timeline and process. If copies of transcripts are not received when expected, please call the AHS counseling office at 817-441-5170 or email sdjones@aledoisd.org.
Verification of Enrollment
Cafeteria Balance Refund/Transfer
For families with graduating seniors, please email Renee Goodenough in the AISD Child Nutrition Department (rgoodenough@aledoisd.org) to request a refund of your cafeteria account balance or to transfer it to a younger sibling. Please include student name(s) and, if requesting a refund, please include current mailing address. If you have questions, please call the AISD Child Nutrition Department at 817-441-5142.
Athletics Forms/Physicals
If your secondary student (6-12) is participating in athletics, cheer or dance in the 2023-2024 school year, please go online to https://aledoisd.rankonesport.com to complete athletics forms. All students who participate in athletics, cheer, dance and/or marching band must also have a physical completed for the 2023-2024 school year. Please contact head athletic trainer Troy Little at tlittle@aledoisd.org with questions.
Summer Learning Opportunities
Aledo ISD will be offering two at-home learning opportunities for students to engage in this summer!
- Aledo Reads @ Home
- IXL Math & Language Arts Online Personalized Learning
1. Aledo Reads @ Home Summer Reading
Aledo ISD's summer reading initiative Aledo Reads @ Home begins May 30! Aledo Reads At Home is designed to prevent the summer slide through encouraging and motivating our students to read books of their choice throughout the summer. For your convenience, AISD has developed a list of fiction and non-fiction title choices by grade level for students and families that would like suggestions of high- interest texts by grade level.
In an effort to encourage and promote summer reading, students that participate will be entered for a chance to win prizes throughout the summer. Once students finish reading a book they can submit a reading response to be entered into the drawing. Please visit this website for Aledo Reads @ Home information.
2. IXL Math & Language Arts Online Personalized Learning
Students in grades Kindergarten-Geometry can interact in the IXL Math Program and Kindergarten-5th grade students can access IXL Language Arts all summer

Click here for a list of school supplies for students in grades Pre-K through 8th for 2023-2024.
The Aledo PTO also has started pre-packaged school supply sales for 2023-2024. Go to the Aledo PTO website for more information and ordering deadlines for pre-packaged school supplies.
Summer Camps
Many Aledo ISD athletics and fine arts programs offer summer camps for our Bearcats. Visit www.aledoisd.org/summercamps for information on signing up for these camps.
Bearcat Travels
We want to see where your summer travels are taking you! Whether that’s the Fort Worth Zoo or a trek up Mount Kilimanjaro, take an Aledo Bearcat Nation flag with you for a photo op! We would like to show just how far the reach of Bearcat Nation is when our fans, friends and family take off for the summer.
Bearcat flags are on loan through the Aledo ISD Administration Building front office, so email aslape@aledoisd.org or call 817-441-8327 to reserve one for your vacation or staycation. Then just bring the flag back for someone else to use and email us a photo so we can track our traveling Bearcats! We’ll connect the dots to see where our Bearcats spent the summer.
