Message from Randall McAlister regarding Quota Funds
We still have a significant amount of Quota Funds to spend by Sept 30. Now and through the summer months is the best time to send me materials requests. I'm here all summer. Get those orders to me!
Camp Lighthouse has a few spots open. Hurry, and act now to nominate your student!
Fort Worth Lighthouse for the Blind is hosting a technology camp for blind transition students in July for 1 week. There is NO FEE for this, as it is underwritten by a generous local donor. We have 11 more spots available! It would be a great way to meet some of the expanded core curriculum requirements, as blind students learn more about technology, integrated socialization through physical activities, and also independent living skills. They must be between ages 14-17, be blind or have a significant visual impairment, and be able to take care of their own activities of daily living such as grooming and dressing and being at a certain place as a certain time. This year we are focusing on getting the most out of whatever technology they already use and also demonstrating new and different types of technology. There will be a classroom portion and the physical activities, play portion. The camp begins on Sunday, July the 14th and ends on Friday the 19th. They spend the night in cabins with supervision at Camp Amon Carter in Fort Worth. If interested, send an email to lware@lighthosuefw.org.

Opportunity to participate in graduate research
Hello, our names are Michele Peacock and Melinda Ply. This is a study about Braille instruction and acquisition. We are seeking Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments to complete a survey. This information will help us complete a paper to fulfill our requirements in the Graduate program at Stephen F. Austin State University. The purpose of the paper is to collect and analyze data to help vision professionals have a better understanding of the order and process to teach Braille a majority of our peers follow.
You will find a link below to the survey. Your participation in this survey is completely voluntary. Your identity and answers to this survey will remain confidential. This survey will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes to complete. We would like to thank you for your consideration and participation.
Sincerely,
Michele Peacock
