Today, the state of our district is not merely "good" or "stable." It continues on its extraordinary path. We are not just surviving the challenges of a rapidly changing Arizona; we are setting the pace for the entire state. With great people, in the “right seats on the bus,” you have the opportunity to make significant impact in many different arenas. Remember, we did have a five-consecutive-year run of being on Forbes Best Midsize Employer list for Arizona. We believe in Peter Drucker’s declaration: “Culture eats everything else for breakfast!” Our district is #extraordinary because of that positive culture where everyone contributes to our excellence.

DVUSD is planning for the next decade of education for the children in our community. Our 2025-26 Long Range Planning Committee is actively reviewing attendance boundaries to ensure our schools remain strong. By balancing enrollment amid shifting enrollment patterns and utilizing our buildings efficiently, we can help ensure that every school is positioned to offer high-quality academic programming and diverse opportunities for all of our students.

Curriculum adoptions and updates are a normal part of a healthy, evolving school system. DVUSD is moving forward with a K–5 ELA adoption to ensure our teachers and students have the most effective, current resources available. We value parent and community input and we encourage all stakeholders to look at the two proposed curriculum products and make your voice heard by filling out a survey. You can access samples of the curriculum in your school's front office, the Governing Board Room or online. Please access this flyer for online codes and for the survey link.

You can't "besmirch" the reputation of Union Park School at the DVUSD district spelling bee!

The Toros are back-to-back champions as Ishani Nayak provided the winning word "besmirch" after 12 rounds of competition.

Thank you to all of our participants, and congratulations to the top eight students who will take part in the Regional Spelling Bee at the DVUSD district office next month!

Bailey Williams is what we at DVUSD call a "comeback kid"-- a graduate who comes back to DVUSD as an employee. The Mountain Ridge class of 2018 graduate knew from a young age she always wanted to be a teacher, and now she teaches next door to the 5th grade classroom she once occupied at Legend Springs Elementary School as a student. See more "Portrait of a Graduate" videos at DVUSD.org/PortraitofaGraduate.

DVUSD continually looks to prepare students for the future, and we recognize that digital literacy skills are increasingly essential for all. During the 2024-25 school year, we convened the 38-member Technology Vision Committee, including district leaders, teachers, parents, and community partners. The committee's charge was to develop and implement a comprehensive technology vision spanning at least five years that aligns with the Deer Valley Unified School District's strategic plan priority areas, fostering a culture of innovation and promoting the effective and balanced use of technology in education. Each of the DVUSD strategic plan priority areas includes an overarching objective followed by focus areas, targeted actions, and measures for excellence with instructional technology.

The Technology Vision Plan for 2030 & Beyond serves as our roadmap to prepare DVUSD students with the skills they need to thrive in a digitally rich world. To read the full plan and find more resources, please visit: dvusd.org/edtech
