Our Mission & Looking Ahead
At Roosevelt, we live our mission of “Building Character, Growing Minds” each day by keeping learning first—academically, socially, and emotionally. Having spent my entire career serving Rock County students as a teacher, counselor, and administrator—and as a parent of two adult children—I know firsthand how much your child's well-being matters. That perspective shapes everything I do as a school leader.
This year, we will continue building on our successes, deepening community connections, and ensuring every student thrives and develops a lifelong love of learning. Thank you for partnering with us to make Roosevelt Elementary the absolute best place for our children to learn and grow.
Here for You
Whether you are returning or new to Roosevelt, my door is always open. Feel free to stop by, call me directly at 608-743-7005, or reach out to the main office at 608-743-7000 with any questions, ideas, or good news.
With gratitude and excitement for the year ahead,
Kelly Kaminski

📢 Important Arrival & Dismissal Updates
(A big thank you to our wonderful PTA for creating the helpful map attached to this post!) 🗺️✨
🚫 No Parking/Waiting on Holmes (Roosevelt Side)
Per city ordinance, vehicles cannot stop or park along the Roosevelt side of Holmes Street. Please do not park or wait in your vehicle for your child in this area.
✅ The "Stop & Drop" Zone
The area directly in front of Roosevelt on Holmes is designated as our Stop & Drop zone.
How it works: Pull over only long enough for your child to exit or enter the vehicle.
Safety First: Always ensure your child exits/enters on the school side of the vehicle!
Keep it moving: Once your child is safely out or inside, please pull away immediately so the next family can pull up.
🅿️ Parking & Walking Alternatives
If you prefer to wait for your child or walk them to the entrance:
Park further down on Holmes Street (past Ringold Street) or on surrounding side streets.
Walk up to the school grounds to meet your child.
Always encourage your child to use the designated crossing guard for safe street crossings!
Thank you for your partnership and cooperation in keeping our Rough Riders safe and traffic moving smoothly! 🎒🍎
Help Us "Keep Learning First" –
Toys & Fidget Guidelines
As we work together to build supportive, engaging learning environments, our school is focusing on our core value to "keep learning first". To help maintain a focused classroom space and prevent lost or damaged items, we ask for your help with the following guidelines regarding toys and sensory tools:
Toys & Sports Balls: Please keep all personal toys, trading cards, and recess equipment at home. The school will provide all necessary recess equipment for students to use during break times.
Fidgets & Sensory Tools: Personal fidgets brought from home can cause distractions, get lost, or lead to trading. Because of this, all fidgets from home should stay at home. If a student requires a sensory tool as part of a special plan, the school will provide it, and families can coordinate directly with the classroom teacher.
Special Classroom Activities: If a classroom activity requires bringing a special item to school, your student’s teacher will message families in advance. On those days, items should remain safely in backpacks until designated times.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our focus on learning and ensuring a smooth, supportive school year for every student!
