25-26 Yearbook
Quick tech tip: If you're viewing a QR code on your phone, you don’t need a second device to scan it. Just take a screenshot or save the photo to your photo library, open the picture in your photo library, and long-press on the QR code - your phone will recognize it and pop up the link automatically. Super handy!
Student Belonging Survey
Our Student Belonging Survey window will open on Monday, December 1st and close on Friday, December 12th.
Students in grades 3-5 will participate in an assessment to allow school leaders to gauge students’ sense of belonging at school. This is part of D300’s continuing effort to improve our understanding of our students' needs. Although our school values the voices and perspectives of our pre-K through 2nd-grade students, we do not feel that the reading level of the assessment suits the average literacy of our youngest students.
We recommend K-2 students work with their families (parents and guardians) to provide feedback through the 5 Essentials Survey when it is available. Unfortunately, the 5 Essentials places similar restrictions on K-2 student participation due to reading levels. However, since the 5 Essentials can be completed from home, students and families can discuss their experiences and complete the survey together.
i-Ready Assessments
Our i-Ready assessment window will open on Monday, December 1st and close on Friday, December 12th. Students will take the i-Ready assessment in both reading and math.
Please see the information below for helpful tips and details about i-Ready testing. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out — we’re happy to help! If you are looking for specific dates your student will be taking their assessments, please reach out directly to their teacher. Thank you for your continued support in helping our students show what they know and reach their full potential.
What i-Ready Is and How It Works
Adaptive Assessment — i‑Ready adjusts question difficulty based on your student’s responses: correct answers lead to tougher questions, incorrect ones to easier ones. This helps pinpoint the right learning level—not to assign a “grade” but to personalize instruction.
💡 Tips to Help Your Child Do Their Best on the i-Ready Assessment
Get a good night’s sleep the night before testing so your child is well-rested and alert.
Eat a healthy breakfast to fuel focus and concentration.
Talk about the purpose — explain that i-Ready helps teachers know what they’ve learned and what they still need to work on.
Encourage a “try your best” mindset — it’s okay if they don’t know every answer; thoughtful effort matters most.
Remind them to take their time and read questions carefully.
Offer encouragement before and after the test — celebrate their hard work, not just their score.
Cold Weather Reminder
As the temperatures begin to drop, we want to make sure all of our Knights stay warm and comfortable throughout the school day!
Please be sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the weather. This includes a warm coat, hat, gloves, boots, and snow pants when needed. Students go outside for recess every day unless the temperature (actual or wind chill) is below 10°F, or it’s raining.
To help keep everyone safe and dry, students who do not have boots and snow pants will need to stay on the shoveled blacktop area when there’s snow on the ground. We also encourage families to have children practice putting on and fastening their own winter gear at home - it’s a great way to build independence and get ready for those chilly recesses!
If your child needs to remain indoors for medical reasons, please provide a doctor’s note to the school.
Thank you for helping us keep our students warm, healthy, and ready for outdoor fun this fall and winter!
Transportation Change Reminder
Families, friendly reminder that if you need to make a change to your child’s transportation during the school day, please notify the office as soon as possible, but no later than 1:30 PM. This information has to come from you and not from your child.
This allows us to ensure that teachers are informed and that your child is dismissed safely and accurately at the end of the day.
Thank you for your cooperation and attention to this important procedure!
The Royal Broom Competition
Congratulations to Mrs. Partridge's Class!
They are the winners of our Royal Broom Award for keeping the cleanest classroom the entire week of November 17th! Our night custodians crowned them champions, and their room sparkled the brightest. ✨
The Royal Broom competition runs all year long, so who will sweep up the honor next week? 🧹
Lost and Found
Updated 11/24/25
Our Lost and Found is bursting with lonely jackets, hats and sweatshirts that are hoping to find their way back home! Please take a look at the pictures we’ve shared to see if any of these items belong to your child. To help our “lost treasures” get back to their owners even faster, we’d love for you to add your child’s name inside their belongings. That way, we can return them right away before they end up on another adventure in the Lost and Found!
December's Perfect Attendance Reward
🎉 We’re excited to share this month’s Perfect Attendance Reward! Students who have perfect attendance in December will earn a free slice of Portillo's Chocolate Cake! 🍰 Let’s keep up the great attendance and enjoy some tasty rewards!
