A Message from Dr. Crain
FPS students, staff, and families,
Welcome to our first official Focus message of the 2026-27 school year! I hope everyone had a wonderful start to the year as we kicked off another year of learning, growth, and Hornet pride.
Starting a new school year always brings a fresh wave of energy, along with a few adjustments. This year, due to calendar requirements and the way the dates aligned, we navigated the unique challenge of starting with a full five-day school week. In past years, we have typically eased into the calendar with a Wednesday start. Diving straight into a five-day week can certainly be an adjustment for students, families, and staff alike!
However, jumping right in brought some positives as well. Having the full first week together allowed our teachers and students to focus immediately on building positive relationships, setting clear classroom expectations, and establishing strong daily routines. Thanks to that solid foundation, our second week of school was exceptionally smooth, productive, and focused on student achievement.
I want to extend a sincere thank you to our parents and community members for your ongoing support, flexibility, and partnership during these busy opening weeks. It takes a whole community working together to support our students, and we appreciate everything you do to help them arrive ready to learn.
Thank you for sharing your students with us. It’s always a great day to be a Hornet!
Ty A. Crain
