Dear Alta Mesa Families,

Here we go everyone!!! The start to the 24-25 school year is only days away. We start on Wednesday, August 14th. Our campus will be open on Tuesday, August 13th from 11:30 AM- 1 PM for our Alta Mesa "Meet and Greet" for families and students to find their classrooms. If you still are unsure of who your child's teacher is please log onto powerschool as class lists are no longer posted publicly. If you are unsure how to log into powerschool please call our office at (530) 224- 4130.

This is going to be a great year!!! We will see everyone on Wednesday. Please make sure to read through the entirety of this newsletter for all the important back to school information.

Principal-Alta Mesa School

We create space for our students to find their classrooms and meet their teachers prior to the first day of school. This allows them to feel more comfortable and know where to go and who to connect with when they start school. Our classrooms will be having a meet and greet on Tuesday, August 13th from 11:30-1:00. Gate 1 and the Kindergarten Gate will be open as well as the office for parents and students to enter through.

We will welcome back our students to campus on August 16th. Gate # 1 will open at 7:40 for students to enter for breakfast. Our Kindergarten gate opens at 8:05. For TK-3rd grade class starts at 8:20 for 4th and 5th grade class starts at 8:05. Parents are welcome to walk their students to class on the first day of school.

Our Back to School Night will occur on Wednesday, August 23rd from 6:00-7:00. 6:00 and then again at 6:30. Back to School Night is for parents to meet their child's teacher and learn how the classroom operates.

Picture Day will look a little different this year because Studio 530 Photography will be doing all their ordering online. There will no longer be preorders or packets that go home with your students. All orders will be made AFTER pictures have been taken.

There are benefits to this new system:

1) You will be able to view pictures before you buy them

2) You are able to fully customize backgrounds

Here are the steps for ordering pictures (a slip will go home with your students as well):

• Each student will get their picture taken on picture day and will be given a slip to take home to their parents/guardians
• A few days later parents will be able to use the slip that was sent home to register and order pictures
• If orders are placed within the first week of pictures being taken, no shipping costs will be added

All parents, including new parents, should have logged into the Parent Portal at some point already. Why do you need to create a parent account? This is a secure platform through which you will view your child's teacher/class, receive your child’s report card, complete enrollment, and complete the necessary beginning-of-the-year school forms like your child's emergency card. In the future, this is also how state testing results will be communicated.

Alta Mesa is fortunate in that we have an amazing cafeteria staff (lead by Mrs. Claudia O'Dell pictured here) that provide top notch service to our students. All students eat well balanced meals at Alta Mesa and no student pays for breakfast or lunch! So don't fret about packing that lunch as our cafeteria is always available!
