A Note from Mr Lieberz
Welcome back! We hope you had a restful spring break and are ready to get back into routines. Next week we will be continuing with forward testing. Please make sure your student gets enough sleep, arrives to school on time and eats breakfast so they are able to have a positive testing experience. Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences are next week as well. If you haven't already, please keep an eye out for an email from your student's Spartan Start teacher to sign up for a time slot.
This week all 8th graders had the pleasure of listening to Marion Blumenthal Lazan share about her experience during the Holocaust and at the Bergen-Belsen Concentration camp. She emphasized the importance of being kind to others and passing her story on to the next generation.
Counselor's Corner
Self-control can be defined as an ability to manage one’s emotions to delay the instant
gratification of the moment, to make more informed decisions about the future. For example,
most people choose to act respectfully and responsibly as opposed to just reacting to negative
situations in the moment. Although this is easier said than done, many people make a
difference by demonstrating kindness, patience, and respect in the face of adversity. Reflecting
upon what is in your control and what is not, leads to more effective decision making. Reflective
questions which focus upon outcomes/consequences can help to prevent decisions which are
made in the moment by feelings. For example, asking yourself, how will this decision impact
others as well as myself? Can I live with those consequences? How? Would I be proud of my
decision and how I carried myself? How does this decision benefit others?
Students earn Spartan Tickets for showing Work, Respect, Belong behavior. They are able to use those tickets to purchase items in the Spartan Store. If you would like to contribute, here is the wishlist.
Attendance Matters!
Class starts each day with students in classrooms by 7:55am. The warning bell rings at 7:50am. To see if your child has been tardy to any of their classes, check PowerSchool to view your child’s attendance. If you see any errors, please contact Ms. Charity.
**Our school day ends at 3:06pm. Unless your student is registered for an after school activity, they must leave the building by 3:30pm.**
