A few words from Principal Rico
Hello Everyone,
Fall is here and there are a lot of great happenings here at BFA. In working toward making BFA a place that is a safe, welcoming, and strong, we encourage our students to provide their voice in helping us achieve that goal. One way to do this is through BFA's Student Leadership opportunities. Our Student Leadership groups range from School Spirit Committee, which helps shape the culture of our school to Student Government, which works to improve all aspects of BFA. Last year we had roughly 80 students who participated, this year we have over 110 students who are participating in making meaningful change.
We encourage all students to get involved in working to make BFA a better place for generations to come.
Please reach out to your advisor if you have any questions.
Polly Rico

PSAT/SAT OCT 29th schedule
Dear Students and Families,
This fall, all 10th- and 11th-grade students at BFA will take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 29, during the school day. The district will cover the cost of the assessment to ensure equity and access for every student.
The PSAT gives us another valuable data point beyond the 9th-grade VTCAP to measure student growth across high school. By reviewing results over time, we can better understand how students are progressing and where they may need additional support.
For 11th graders, the PSAT also serves as the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship Program, which provides opportunities for recognition and scholarships nationwide.
Benefits of the PSAT include:
Identifying strengths and areas for growth in reading, writing, and math.
Offering meaningful feedback to guide instruction and support postsecondary planning.
Providing equitable access to a nationally recognized test at no cost.
Giving students practice with standardized testing in a lower-stakes environment before the SAT.
Connecting students to scholarship opportunities and the College Board’s college readiness resources.
We are excited to offer this opportunity to all students and appreciate your support as they prepare to take part.
12th grade students who already registered will also take the SAT at this time.
