Positive Body Safety Lessons
During the month of October, our elementary school social workers will present Positive Body Safety lessons in your child's classroom as part of their regularly scheduled Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) time.
Please take a moment to review the attached letter, which provides important details about the program and what students will learn, including:
- Trusted Adults: Identifying adults who can help when there is a problem.
- Safe vs. Unsafe Touches: Understanding body boundaries and positive touches.
- Action Steps: Empowering children to say "No," remove themselves from uncomfortable situations, and tell a trusted adult.
Hawk Pride
Each week, we start out the week with Mission Monday. This mission becomes a focus for the week. You can help at home by discussing this mission with your child.
This week's STUDENT MISSION:
Practice pausing before we post or share anything online. Once something is shared, it can be hard to take back. We will make choices that keep ourselves and others safe, respectful, and protected.

Fire Poster Contest
We have so many creative and artistic students here at MES! Congratulations to all of our Fire Prevention Poster Contest winners for their fantastic artwork. Winning students were sent home with a special letter from the fire department inviting them and their families to visit the firehall next week. Please check in with your student for their letter so you don't miss out on the details!
Classroom Spotlight:
If you walked past the gymnasium this week, you likely heard a chorus of giggles, rhythmic chanting, and the distinct swoosh of a massive rainbow fabric floating through the air. That’s right—Ms. Boyum’s physical education classes recently got their hands on everyone’s absolute favorite PE classic: the giant parachute!
While it looks like pure play, parachute day is actually packed with physical and social benefits. Ms. Boyum uses these colorful activities to teach critical skills like team communication, spatial awareness, and rhythmic movement, all while giving students a fantastic full-body workout.
Sanford Fun
