LEADERSHIP LETTER LEADERSHIP LETTER

Dear Legacy Academy Community,

It is hard to believe that two months of this school year have already gone by. This has been a

year of patience, excitement, frustration, anticipation, and growth. I want to thank our staff for

their flexibility and determination to serve students, even when rotating classrooms, while we

wait for approval to use the portable buildings. GOOD NEWS!!!! The portables have passed

final inspection, and can be used this week.

On the expansion of our permanent building, we have continued finalizing the design: (12 new

elementary classrooms, 3 pre-school rooms, a second gym, middle school cafeteria, and an

auditorium.) All of this with the intent of better serving our students and families. We will

have updates available moving forward on our webpage. The plan is to have new information

for you at least once each month. Bond financing is moving forward with the help of our

finance partner, D. A. Davidson. The bond finance process is scheduled to be completed in

November.

Enthusiasm around Legacy Academy continues to be high, with record enrollment in both our

elementary and middle schools. Kindergarten interest for next year also indicates we will have

a great group of young Wildcats joining us in August of 2027. REMINDER, if you have a child

that will be eligible for pre-school next year, please fill out the survey included in this edition of

the Ledger.

Have a “Fabulous Fall,”

Community Hero Celebration Day will be Friday, November 6th at 8:15am. Artwork Organization

Help keep students' artwork organized by sorting and filing artwork into the appropriate students folders. This is a great behind the scenes opportunity.

Carpool, Lunchroom, Decorate Classroom Doors

If you would like to volunteer to assist in the lunchroom or at elementary carpool, or decorate a classroom door, please contact Vickey Harjo at vickey.harjo@legacyk8.org. Legacy has one time volunteer opportunities and ongoing opportunities. PTCO hosts events that require many volunteers.

IMPORTANT NOTE FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE - SNACKS IMPORTANT NOTE FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE - SNACKS

HEALTH
zoom_out_map

Dear Parents and Guardians,

To help keep all our students safe, especially those with food allergies, please send all snacks for birthdays and special events in their original manufacturer's packaging with the ingredient label clearly visible. Please avoid sending homemade or unpackaged snacks, as we need to identify ingredients and potential allergens to protect students with allergies and other dietary restrictions.

For families with children who have allergies, you may bring snacks with your child’s name on the package to store in the freezer for birthday or class parties when a substitute item is needed.

This will ONLY be for shared snacks such as birthday/class parties and special events. We appreciate your help and cooperation in creating a safe environment for every student. Thank you for helping us keep our school community safe!

Thanks so much for understanding!

zoom_out_map

If your family could use a little assistance with Christmas clothing or toys for your child(ren), we invite you to confidentially request support through our Legacy Giving Tree. All requests will be handled privately and with care. All family information will be kept confidential. If you would like your child(ren) included in the Giving Tree, please email Vickey.harjo@legacyk8.org by the deadline of November 9, 2026. Please include your child’s name, age, grade, clothing size (if you would like PJ’s, hoodie, etc.), and a few toys or items of interest.

Our Student Council and National Junior Honor Society students will decorate our tree and help wrap gifts if needed (no names will be shared) as items will only have an assigned number on them. The name associated with the numbered items will be kept confidential. We will put the tree up on November 10th. You may select a tag during our Christmas concerts or stop by the office anytime.

Families that would like to contribute may choose a tag from our Giving Tree and purchase the clothing items and/or toys listed and return wrapped gifts by December 10th (gifts may be put in a gift bag or we will even wrap them). Please sign out your “tag number” to help us monitor which tags are outstanding. You may pick up a tag while you are at one of our holiday concerts or anytime from the office.
