Hello Eagle families,

I hope you all are having a nice Sunday and staying dry on this rainy weekend.

This past week, we finished up STAAR testing for this school-year (woohoo!) and it went very well. Thank you to everyone for their patience and efforts as we had so many moving pieces with testing this year!

Next week will be our final week of the 2020-21 school year. We look forward to finishing this last week strong! Reminder: Our last day is this Thursday, May 27th and it is a half-day so we release at 12:10. Here is the Bell Schedule for last day of School for your reference.

Also, Thursday night (5/20/21) our Leander ISD Board of Trustees voted to change our mask policy. It was a robust discussion, and with the conditions improving in the area, it was determined to be time to review and adjust our COVID Mask protocol. Starting tomorrow, Monday, May 24th, masks will continue to be required indoors (and on school buses) at all LISD sites and events, but masks will be optional outdoors for all activities. On Tuesday, June 1st masks will be optional both indoors and outdoors. We will not require masks for anyone starting June 1st, but it is your choice to continue to wear the mask if you prefer. This applies to staff, students, and visitors to our campus. June 1 everyone will be allowed to wear a mask, but it is their choice. We are continuing to revise all of our COVID protocols, and will roll out the changes this summer once TEA gives updates to state requirements.

So what will this look like at CRMS for the last week of school?

Students are required to still wear a mask when they enter the school building. They may lower their mask if they are outside during athletics/PE, homeroom, advisory, etc. However, we will ask students to be careful to not take off their masks completely as we do not want them thrown on the ground, lost or destroyed so that they can put the mask back on when they enter the building. As well, masks are still required to be worn on school buses.

For our 8th grade events this week:

  • This Monday (5/24), 8th graders will have the choice to wear or not wear their masks during the outdoor drive-thru event on Monday.

  • This Thursday (5/27), 8th graders will need to wear their mask to school as described above. During your celebration time, you will rotate through to activities inside and outside. When outside, you will have the choice to lower your mask, but you will be required to wear your mask when you’re inside the building.

8th Grade Certificates and Awards: We will have a drive thru pick-up for certificates and awards on Monday, May 24th. All CRMS 8th graders are invited to participate.

In order to make the drive-thru line as efficient as possible, please use the following schedule (this schedule is encouraged, but if you are not available during your time-slot, feel free to join us when you are able.):

Last Names: A- H = 5:30- 6:00

Last Names: I- P = 6:00- 6:30

Last Names: Q- Z = 6:30- 7:00

Enter through the main entrance at the front of the school and follow the signs around to pick up your yearbook and 8th grade end-of-the-year items and take photos to celebrate. We did not send out specific award invitations this year because we want ALL 8th graders to feel welcome to attend. We have a couple of end-of-year items that every 8th grade student will receive. This is a year like no other so we want to make sure to celebrate them all. There will be some academic awards and recognitions handed out as part of the process, but it is also really meant to be a celebratory event to get yearbooks, some treats and take some pictures in honor of their last week of middle school.

8th Grade last day Celebration: We will have our 8th grade celebration on May 27th.This will include a rotation of various outdoor/indoor activities throughout the day. Virtual students are welcome to attend, please sign up through this form no later than Monday, May 24th.

We can't wait to celebrate our 8th graders and all of our Eagle students this week as we finish up the school-year soaring to success!

Go Eagles!

If you missed Viper Camp or were wanting to attend virtually...

After several technical difficulties, we had to scrap our first idea. The Vandegrift PALS were able to work together to utilize videos, pictures, etc. and create a new Viper Camp. We apologize it took so long!

Hello 6th Grade Families!

As the end of the school year is fast approaching, I wanted to remind you that the State of Texas requires all students to receive a Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis booster (Tdap) and a Meningococcal Vaccine (MCV4) prior to the start of 7th grade. Many times, these immunizations are given at your student's well-visit with their doctor. Please review your student's immunization record and submit an updated copy to the school nurse (Rachael Kristoff). You may contact her by email or by phone for any questions. Please reference the Texas Department of State Health Services for Students for additional information.

Thank you,

Launch to Learning Guides and FAQ

As the upcoming school year takes shape, we want to ensure the information families need to make important decisions is easy to access in our Launch to Learning 2020-21 guides.

  • COVID-19 Health Response

  • Teaching and Learning Guide

  • Special Programs Guide

We know that our community still has questions, so we’ve worked hard at cultivating an expansive, updated FAQ section of the Launch to Learning site. The latest additions will be highlighted green for a few days and then moved into a queue under the appropriate heading.
