A Kindness Jamboree

Kindness is much more than following rules or memorizing acronyms. Kindness is a daily practice that grows a school culture of self reflection and mindfulness. When children embrace their higher self, the question shifts from who was right and who was wrong to, did I act in a kind way? Was I being my higher self? The lessons and songs of Force Field for Good help nurture this shift from blindly following rules to reflecting each day on our behavior. Below is a song I wrote with 5th graders at Uvalde Dual Language academy, where I worked for a week last September. The Heart Pledge is a daily reflection on how I can be kinder.
