Attendance Appeals

This is a reminder about the attendance policy from the NHS Student Handbook:

Students may not receive credit for a class if they have more than 8 absences (UVA or VA). If a student goes over 8 absences in any class, a No Credit (NC) will be given instead of a letter grade. If there are extenuating circumstances, students may submit an attendance appeal. Appeals must be written and turned in to the main office at least 4 days before the end of the semester. A principal-appointed committee will review the appeal, and their decision is final.

Please check Infinite Campus to ensure your student’s attendance is accurate.

Appeal forms are available in the main office and are due by Monday, December 15.

My Favorite Book Contest

The Oklahoma Department of Libraries is hosting a contest for all ages. Students are asked to write a personal letter to the author of their favorite book, series, or story. The letter should go beyond summarizing the plot and instead focus on the student’s own experience as a reader. Students are encouraged to describe how the writing influenced them—whether it inspired new ideas, offered comfort during a difficult time, or opened their eyes to a different perspective. The goal is to reflect on the power of literature and how it can shape the way we think, feel, and see the world around us. Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Due: December 12, 2025

Sport Transfers

As the season ends for fall sports, if students are wishing to switch to another sport, they will need to complete the Sports Transfer Google Form. They will receive the link to that form from their coach. In order to complete the form, students must use their school email accounts. Their responses will automatically be sent to their guardian's email address. If their guardian has questions or wishes to change something, they will need to contact their student's school counselor.

Once the outgoing and incoming coaches both approve of the sports transfer, the counselors will make necessary changes to the student's schedule.
