NURSE'S NOTES
If your child regularly suffers from nosebleeds, please moisturize their nostrils before coming to school.
If you must give them acetaminophen or ibuprofen because they have a fever in the morning, please keep them home. They need to be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before they can return to school.
If they have a cough and you would like them to have cough drops, please provide them. Put their name on the bag, and they need over-the-counter medication paperwork for me to be able to dispense. They are not allowed to carry them.
If your child has had a new injury while at home and now has restrictions on activities, we need a note from the physician when they return to school. I am specifically speaking about casts, crutches, splints, slings, and any other equipment they are using to help decrease their pain and keep an arm or leg from moving.
If your child is sent home because of vomiting, they need to be vomit free for 24 hours before they can return. Please keep them home the next day.

STUDENT MESSAGES
Student messages and bus passes are sent to classes at 3:15pm. Please send in a note or call in before 3:00pm to ensure your student will get the message. If you want your student to be picked up by someone other than the parent or guardian, please make sure they are on the pick up list and have them show their ID to the attending staff member.
To ensure all students are as safe as possible, anyone interested in being a school volunteer needs to complete an online application and agree to a background check; only criminal activity and driving record will be checked. All information will be kept confidential and information can only be accessed by a few members of the Human Resources Department. To complete the screening process, visit the Districts webpage at https://www.kpbsd.k12.ak.us, click on the volunteer link and follow the instructions. Please contact Human Resources department at 714-8888 if you have any questions. (Please note: this process needs to be completed each new school year and can take up to 10 days to process.)
RECESS REMINDER
Students go outside for recess every day — rain, shine, or snow! The cutoff for outdoor recess is –10°F (including wind chill).
Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather each day.
Children should arrive at school dressed and ready to go outside, with all necessary winter gear. Be sure to label coats, hats, gloves, and boots with your child’s name, and remind them not to leave items on the playground.
Thank you for helping keep our students warm and ready for fun!
