The Winter Reading Challenge Is Back!
The time has come for our third annual winter reading challenge. Are you up for it? All you have to do is pick up a Tic-Tac-Toe game card at the library and start reading! On the card are 9 different descriptions of books but you get to pick what you want to read. For example, to get your stamp for the square labeled "a book about sports," you can read and quiz on any fiction book with sports in the storyline, or a nonfiction book that is about any sport. Books must be worth at least 1 point to earn a stamp.
Game cards are available at the library. You have all winter to play and get your stamps to make a straight or diagonal line on your game card. You can take your quizzes with your teachers, but you can only get your stamps at the library by showing Mrs. Alvarez your AR quiz results.
Any student who meets the challenge gets a goodie bag with sweet treats, Takis, and a few other surprises!

Curse Workers Series
Cassel comes from a family of curse workers—people who have the power to change your emotions, your memories, your luck, all by the slightest touch of their hands. Since curse work is illegal, they’re all criminals. But not Cassel. He hasn’t got the magic touch, so he’s an outsider—the straight kid in a crooked family—as long as you ignore one small detail: He killed his best friend, Lila.
