Dear Parents/Carers,

The festive calendar has well and truly begun this week with various events happening across school. School has been trimmed and looks very seasonal. Thank you to Mr and Mrs Selby who kindly bought school a real Christmas Tree for the school hall. This looks beautiful and we are very grateful to both for this kindness.

This Week This Week

Santa Visit

On Monday, we were privileged and excited to have Santa visit us in school! The elves had prepared a grotto to make him feel at home and one of his helpers collected the pupils from their classes. Pupils listened to him tell a Christmas story and he listened and made note of their present wish lists. He then gave the pupils a little gift to take home. Thank you Santa and your helper for visiting us at Larks Hill!

Christmas Singing

This week, members of the choir have been out and about singing Christmas Carols to the public. On Wednesday, we sang in the Market Square in Pontefract and on Thursday, we sang at The Prince of Wales Hospice. This is always such a lovely thing to do and everyone thoroughly enjoys having a sing-a-long.

Pontefract Civic Society Christmas Window Judging

On Thursday, Mrs Law took the Head Boy and Head Girl into Pontefract to judge the Christmas shop windows alongside other local schools. We look forward to this competition each year! The winner has not yet been announcer however we voted for Tooth & Tiger as having the best decorated window. Well done!

Polar Express

This week, as a reward for excellent behaviour and attitudes to learning, the whole school watched The Polar Express. This is such a magical film and really gets you in the Christmas spirit. The pupils were able to change into their PJS for the event and bring blankets or teddies. During the interval, the pupils drank hot chocolate and ate cookies. Well done to everyone. This reward is very much deserved!

Christmas Fair

This afternoon, school was full to the brim with families for our Christmas Fair. The pupils worked very hard to set up and run their stalls. There was a wide range of Christmas-themed activities to do and school-made treats to buy. Thank you to everyone who attended. I would also like to thank our very loyal and dedicated parents

(Friends of Larks Hill) who always give up their time to help organise and run our café and tombola stalls for us. Without this support, we would struggle to provide these elements of the fair and we are very grateful for all that you do to help us.

Thank you to all our families for your continued support. This time of year is always so busy but we are extremely grateful to you for supporting us at our events, for your generous donations and for your support with costumes and anything else that we reach out to you for. Without your support, we would not be able to do what we do for our pupils.

Have a lovely weekend and take great care with the stormy weather that is forecast.

Yours Sincerely,

Mrs Adams
