COSA (Change of School Assignment) Requests
Annual application window is opening Oct. 20 for Change of School Assignment (COSA) requests
Under Fulton County School Board Policy JBCC, families of students in kindergarten through 12th grade can apply for a school transfer by submitting a Change of School Assignment (COSA) request.
COSA brings the district’s transfer-related programs together under one process and annual application timeline. For the 2027-2028 school year, the application window runs from October 20 through December 18, 2026.
Top 10 Things to Know
Below is a summary of key points for parents, with full information posted at www.fultonschools.org/COSA.
- The COSA process covers all transfer-related programs, including those due to parent preference (no specific academic, hardship or medical reason needed), children of FCS employees, magnet studies, and options made available through state law, such as the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship and Georgia Public School Choice/Open Enrollment.
- The list of COSA-eligible schools will be published Oct. 20, 2026, to the COSA website. Up to three (3) schools, in priority order, may be selected during the online application.
- Applications will only be accepted for schools on the COSA-eligible list. Schools that are part of current Redistricting/ Consolidation/ Closure planning or at a high enrollment capacity are not COSA-eligible.
- Parents can apply any time during the application window of Oct. 20, 2026, through Dec. 18, 2026.
- Acceptance or denial will be emailed in late January 2027 to parents/guardians.
- If a transfer is approved, parents/guardians/students must provide their own transportation to the accepting school.
- To continue enrollment, students must meet attendance, academic and behavioral requirements.
- If COSA is approved, students are eligible to remain at the school through their terminal year (5th, 8th, 12th) and do not need to reapply annually unless moving on to middle or high school. Students with an IEP or Section 504 plan may stay if their program remains available at the school.
- Students with transfers approved before August 1, 2024, may remain through the school’s highest grade without a new application.
- Transfer requests for children of military families, children experiencing homelessness, and victims of violent criminal offenses are subject to separate requirements under applicable laws. Families should confirm the COSA application steps and deadlines that apply to their situation.
Magnet Programs and Schools Without An Attendance Zone
Students wanting to attend a magnet program at a location outside of their home attendance boundary must first submit a COSA application. If a transfer is granted, students can then apply for admission into the magnet program through the school. COSA acceptance does not guarantee magnet program placement, so parents should contact the school for specific program participation criteria.
Also, schools without an attendance zone do not require a COSA application. These are FCS Innovation Academy, Global Impact Academy, The Promise Career Institute, F.A.V.E. (Fulton Academy of Virtual Excellence) and FCS charter schools. The Accelerated Career Program/FCS Middle College at North Springs High School allows any student, regardless of their attendance zone, to apply and does not require a COSA application; however, admission to North Springs’ STEAM magnet does require COSA.

News from the PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) Committee
Dear Families,
As we review our school’s reflection data, we have noticed the highest number of reflections related to two areas: not following directions and being disrespectful toward others. We want to share this information with you so that we can work together to support our students in making positive choices and creating a safe, respectful learning environment for everyone.
At school, we emphasize the importance of being Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn. Following directions, listening to adults, speaking kindly to others, and treating classmates with respect are essential parts of these expectations. When students struggle in these areas, it can disrupt learning and affect the overall classroom environment.
We ask that you take a few moments to discuss these expectations with your child at home. Reinforcing the importance of listening, following directions the first time, using respectful language, and making thoughtful choices can make a meaningful difference.
If your child receives a reflection, you will receive communication from your child's teacher. Please be sure to discuss the manner with your child, sign the form, and return it back to school promptly.
Our goal is to work together as a school community to help every student develop the skills needed to be successful both academically and socially. Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work to ensure that all students feel safe, respected, and ready to learn each day.
Northview Cluster Event - October 28th
The 26-27 Titan Cup competition is coming soon…attached is a flyer for our Cluster Community Night on October 28th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM (park by 5:45 and make your way to the gym).
The event will start in the gym at 6:00 with singing of the national anthem and then we will have a few friendly competitions between Northview cluster schools to see which school can claim the Titan Cup for the 26-27 school year. After awarding the Titan Cup (6:30ish) all the Northview clubs will host a “Trunk or Treat” for students (and siblings!) until 8:00 or the candy runs out, with some food trucks/dinner options available for whoever is interested.
Last year, Wilson Creek won the cup! We would love to see our Wildcat families in the stands to cheer us and help us bring the cup home again!

Science Force Labs
Science Force labs are starting this Wednesday, October 14th and will continue throughout the school year. Please consider volunteering for Science Force, a parent-led PTO sponsored program which provides hands-on learning in alignment with your student's science curriculum. No previous science experience is required! We will provide you with a short guide before the lab and hands-on training will be provided by your Science Force lead during the first 15 minutes of your volunteer time. This is a great way to spend an hour of your time to contribute to your student's science education. On the sign up, please scroll to your student's teacher's name - there are 2 labs per grade - one in the fall and spring semester. For 4th and 5th grades, please sign up with your homeroom teacher, who may not be your Science teacher.
Please email Ashley Mayer at WCESScienceForce@gmail.com with any questions.
