Wiggin Street Parent Update
February 9, 2026
Better Together
Dear Families,
Wow! We had a lot going on at Wiggin Street last week. Our Read-a-thon kicked off with everyone wearing their W Book T-shirts. Thank you to our PTO, Friends of Wiggin Street, for purchasing drawstring bags with our theme, Reaching for the Stars, for each student, as well as books for students to take home. Also, thank you to Ms. Waugh for organizing another amazing Read-a-thon with help from the staff at Wiggin Street. We are grateful for the continued generosity of our community. The proceeds from the Read-a-thon will allow us to once again host an author/illustrator visit. This March, we are excited to welcome Troy Cummings, author and illustrator of more than forty children’s books, including The Notebook of Doom, The Binder of Doom, and Can I Be Your Dog?.
The fun continued throughout the week with sledding at recess, Mystery Reader Monday, Read with a Buddy, Silly Sock Day, Pajama Day, and Flashlight Friday. In addition, we celebrated the Global Day of Play, and our fifth-grade students traveled to the Brown Family Environmental Center.
We were disappointed to cancel our Rewards Luncheon on Friday at The Annex that planned to host 12 students who demonstrated excellent behavior this winter. We are hopeful to reschedule this event in March and will notify families once the date is confirmed.
The deadline for students to return their Read-a-thon pledge envelopes was today, February 9; however, donations will also be accepted on Tuesday. The PTO will organize prizes at their meeting Tuesday evening. We sincerely appreciate all of the students who collected pledge money and the community members who supported them.
With warm regards,

Art Around the World
The Art Around the World exhibition will be open from February 7th through the end of February. The pictures and presentation below are from the last session. We truly appreciate Lily Grace working with our students. She is an amazing role model with such poise as a Senior in high school. We wish her the best in her future goals.

Ohio State Practice Test and Information for Families
As students in grades 3-5 prepare for Ohio State Tests that will take place in April, it is always helpful for parents to understand the expectations for their child. This site offers families a practice test and information to better familiarize themselves with the tests.

Winter Reminders
Winter Weather
Please remember that students will go outside on days where the temperature with wind chill accounted for is 20°f and above. Be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather each day. Coats, hats, and gloves are necessary at this time of the year. Boots are required for playing in the snow. If you need assistance with winter outerwear for your child, please contact our school, and we will happily find warm clothes for them.
