Attendance Incentive for January 8 - February 14th

Students with perfect attendance from January 8 - February 14 will be entered into a drawing for prizes! We have multiple prizes so multiple students have a chance to WIN!

Attendance Procedures

After each absence please send in a paper note or email to Heather Wadsworth at heather.wadsworth@rcisd.org.

3 days unexcused absence - parents will have to sign an attendance contract

7 days unexcused absence - parents will have to attend an attendance committee meeting

10 days unexcused absence - truancy will be filed with the county

Please send in those notes so that we can get those unexcused absences changed to excused! At this age attendance is not a student responsibility but a parent responsibility so please ensure your children are at school when they are healthy!

Parent Survey

We are always looking for feedback to grow as a campus. With us being a Capturing Kid's Hearts Showcase campus we use their mid-year survey to get a read on how things are going.

We ask that you take a couple minutes to fill this out - https://iheartckh.com/squrl/5v6smc5n

Thank you!

Counselor's Corner

This month our campus is focusing on Respect for our Counseling lessons.

Nurse's Nook

Here are some reminders from Nurse McGrath!

Security Spotlight

The front of the building is not a student drop off area for car riders. This area is used only for buses and daycare vans. For safety reasons, please use the back loop for drop off and pick up. Once all buses and daycare vans have arrived the crosswalk out front is not monitored therefore, it is imperative that you use the back to drop off unless you are walking your kid to the front door. If you are needing to enter the building please park, ring the bell, show your ID, and walk in.

We had a successful security audit in the Fall Semester! Thank you for helping us keep our students safe.

We will have a Spring Lockdown drill this month. On this day we will have an increase of security personnel present to run through the drill with us. Parents will be reminded via text on the day the drill is occurring. The office will not be available during this drill.

Reminders Reminders

Parent Lunches

Parent lunches are every Monday through Thursday unless otherwise noted. If something comes up in our schedule where we need to cancel, we'll be sure to send it out. Please make sure to bring your ID to get in the building. Families are only to eat lunch with their student, not student friends. Thank you!

Transportation Changes

Any changes from the usual pickup routine must be called to the front office by 2:00 that day in order for us to notify your child's teacher in a timely manner. Please do not only contact your teacher directly in case they don't have afternoon conference, have a sub that day, or happen to miss the message. Contacting the front office helps us make sure everyone involved with after school duty knows of the change.

Dismissal

We dismiss from school beginning at 3:10. Please ensure you are here on time for pickup. If you need to utilize after school child care be sure to check out the YMCA if you are looking for a high-quality afterschool program. For more information and to register, visit https://bit.ly/3SUSDJN.

5th Grade Parents 5th Grade Parents

Dear 5th Grade Parents,

We are so excited to welcome your child to Summers MIddle School and for them to become a part of our Summers Family!!! A great way for your child to get involved and make new friends is to join the band!!! If your child is interested in learning to play a musical instrument next year, come to a screener day to learn what band is all about. Here are a few quick tips about screening days-

  • You do not have to commit!!! You can come try instruments to see what your child will be most successful playing.
  • This is a come and go event! You will NOT be here all day!
  • You can come to Baley OR Summers! It does not matter which school you attend for the screening day.
  • If you want to audition for percussion, it is very important you attend a screener day! Those classes are very small and highly competitive.
  • You will know how much band costs and you will receive a supply list BEFORE YOU LEAVE so that your family has ample time to plan for the 2025-26 school year!

We look forward to meeting you!!! See you soon!

Your PTO dollars are spent supporting our students and teachers! Our $5 Family Memberships are vital to our yearly income and programs for our students. A few things that our $5 Family Memberships go towards are:

  • Teacher Classroom Requests

  • Field Day Activities

  • Camp Grady Spruce Sponsorships

  • Spring program for our students

  • Enrichment p grades K-5

  • Staff appreciation

For memberships purchased and donations made by December 1, we will be offering a special incentive! The classroom with the highest memberships purchased in ratio to the number of student, that teacher will be rewarded with a very fun prize.
