The Sheiko Weekly Update
Sheiko Elementary: January 9, 2026
PRINCIPAL UPDATE
Dear Sheiko Families,
Welcome back and Happy New Year! We were so excited to welcome our students back to school this week. It was a joy to see smiling faces in the hallways, and we truly had a great week of learning across all grade levels.
Our Big Announcement is that the semester is coming to an end on January 16th. Please encourage your student(s) to finish strong as we wrap up learning, reflect on progress, and celebrate growth. We are also preparing for NWEA testing, which will begin next week. Your child’s specific testing schedule will be shared in their teacher’s Friday newsletter.
Here are a few additional pieces of information:
Please ensure students are getting a good night’s sleep and arriving to school on time, especially during testing days. Please avoid appointments on testing days.
Encourage your child to do their best and remind them that NWEA is just one way we measure growth.
As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support—it truly makes a difference.
We are looking forward to a strong finish to the semester and another wonderful year of learning together!
Warmly,
Blaine McDowell
Principal, Sheiko Elementary
