Hail, holy Queen enthroned above, O Maria.

Hail, Queen of mercy and of love, O Maria.

Triumph, all ye cherubim. Sing with us, ye seraphim.

Heaven and earth resound the hymn:

Salve, salve, salve Regina!

The cause of joy for us below, O Maria.

The spring through which all graces flow, O Maria.

Angels, all your praises bring; earth and heaven, with us sing;

All creation echoing:

Salve, salve, salve Regina!

Dear Holy Cross Parents and Guardians,

May is a month of special devotion to our Blessed Mother. The crowning of an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary has been a long-standing Catholic devotion. Eighth and second grade students led by Mr. Wright and Ms. Mandl, guided our school in prayer during our May Crowning ceremony this past Thursday. May we follow our Blessed Mother's example of faith, humility, and love as we journey together in this final stretch of the school year.

In the midst of our end-of-year celebrations, we joyfully look forward to honoring our teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. Their dedication, love, and tireless efforts beautifully reflect compassion and servant leadership. We are deeply grateful for the ways they nurture, guide, and inspire our students each day.

Please find some updates below for the upcoming week.

Many blessings to you and yours,

Paola V. Clark, Ed.D.

FastBridge Assessments

As our students wrapped up KAP assessments, they will take the final round of FastBridge assessments of the year, which will provide valuable insight about their annual academic growth and areas of strength and opportunity.

A few reminders:

- Please ensure your student gets a good night’s sleep and eats breakfast.

- Encourage your student to work carefully and show their best effort.

- Assessments are mandatory, and it is essential that students be present. Please be on time and do not schedule any appointments on those days.

2025-26 Updates

With the upcoming school year on the horizon, a few of our team members are being called to new paths.

I am pleased to announce that Sue Buzan will continue her journey at Holy Cross as our Middle School English Language Arts teacher. Sue brings a rich background in ELA and ESL and is eager to support our students as they grow in their literacy skills. Her passion for ELA teaching and student success will make her a great addition to our middle school team.

At the same time, I want to recognize and wholeheartedly thank Laura Loeffert, who will not be returning next school year as she will be focusing on her family. We are grateful for Laura’s many contributions to Holy Cross over the past two years. Although she will be missed, we sincerely wish her every blessing as she begins this next chapter.

Please join me in congratulating Sue on her new role and in wishing Laura and her family the very best in their future endeavors.

Tardies and Absences

This is a reminder that students should be dropped off between 7:50 and 8:00 a.m. every morning. Being on time for school is vital to establish a routine, avoid missed educational experiences, bond, be consistent, and align with school expectations. We appreciate your cooperation.

If your student will be absent or tardy, please notify the Office (gradeschool@holycrosscatholicschool.com) no later than 8:15 am. All lunch counts must be in by this time.

Virtuous Formation Program/Education in Virtue Virtuous Formation Program/Education in Virtue

Holy Cross has adopted a School-Wide Positive Behavior Support System called the Be Holy Cross Virtuous Behavior Formation. Expectations are clearly defined under the “Be Holy Cross” framework. Students are expected to conduct themselves in keeping with the expectations set in this framework to be caring, responsible, obedient, and successful stewards. Individual, classroom, and school-wide expectations will be taught at the beginning of the school year and emphasized at various times. Students will be acknowledged for positive behaviors. This aligns with our annual theme: In a world where you can be anything...Be Holy Cross.

Education in Virtue is the Archdiocesan Catholic Social-Emotional Learning program, a key component of our Virtuous Formation Program. It provides a curriculum and resources developed by the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, based on St. Thomas Aquinas’ teachings on the virtues and gifts of the Holy Spirit. These resources provide a framework for helping people of all ages understand how to live more virtuously.

At Holy Cross, we highlight a virtue each month that is woven organically into lessons and our daily school life. These virtues are used in our announcements to guide our morning prayer, selection of the Saint of the Month, activities for our Faith Families, and classroom lessons. The virtue of May is Foresight.

The Saint of the month is St. Angela Merici.
