The Demon
A Weekly Update for Parents, Students, and our Community
A Note from Mrs. Elroy
Dear Families,
As the school year draws to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we've had together and express my deepest gratitude for your unwavering support and engagement. It has been a year filled with growth, learning, and numerous accomplishments that have set the foundation for future success.
Our students have demonstrated remarkable dedication, participating in a wide range of activities that have enriched their educational experience. From involvement in career tech programs, concurrent courses, internships, extracurricular activities, and numerous clubs, our students continue to excel and make us proud. Their contributions as community volunteers have not only impacted our school but have also made a positive difference in our local community.
As we look towards the future, we encourage our students to continue striving for excellence and to carry forward the values of integrity, respect, and kindness that define our school community. The upcoming year will hold new challenges and opportunities, and we are committed to providing the support and resources needed for our students to thrive.
Thank you, families, for being our partners in education. Your involvement and encouragement have been instrumental in our students' success. We wish you a restful and enjoyable summer break and look forward to welcoming our students back for another exciting year.
To our graduating class of 2025, your journey here has been marked by hard work, perseverance, and countless achievements. As you step into the next chapter of your lives, know that you carry with you the hopes and best wishes of everyone at Duncan High School. We are proud of all you have accomplished and excited to see the bright futures you will undoubtedly create. Congratulations, graduates!
With warm regards,
Lisha Elroy

Communication with School Staff
Due to a new law regarding school employee's communication with students, we will only be using the Rooms app located within the Duncan Public Schools app for communication. Please contact us there or by phone at 255-0700.
We are dedicated to serving our students and their families each and every day. We are here and eager to help in anyway that we can. With that being said, we also have to protect our time with our own families and have time to disconnect and recharge.
Please respect the following boundaries regarding communication with school personnel. Thank you.
- Teachers and staff will respond to parent messages or phone calls within 24 hours during the work week. The best time to call is 7:30-3:15 each day.
- Emails/messages and phone calls on Friday and the weekend will be returned on Monday of the following week.
- All parent/staff communication should be through an official school Rooms communication app or a phone call to the school office. In addition to these, other school communication tools such as SeeSaw, Class Dojo or other tools set up by the school or teacher may also be used.
- Teachers also have a planning period during the day that can be used for phone communication or parent meetings as needed.
- Appointments can be scheduled with other staff, as needed, through a phone call to the school office.

Important Information Regarding Semester Test Days!
Students who are EXEMPT from ALL tests DO NOT need a parent to call in for them on test days. Attendance will be entered accordingly.
Students who are NOT EXEMPT from all tests MUST have a parent call in for them to leave campus. Once they arrive on campus to take a test, THEY CANNOT LEAVE WITHOUT A PARENT CALLING TO CHECK THEM OUT. If a student leaves without a parent call, they will be considered truant and subject to disciplinary action. **Students who are called out must stay in class until the end of the hour, to avoid disrupting other students who are still testing.
Any student who wishes to stay on campus all day(even if they are exempt) or if a parent does not want to call them out, those students will need to report to their assigned classes each day. These exempt students will not have to take the test, but they will need to sit in their class.
Semester Test Schedule
Tuesday May 20- Students will report to the 1st, 3rd, 7th, and 8th hours.
Wednesday May 21 - Students will report to the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th hours.
**Teachers have submitted their exemption lists to the attendance office. Please be patient with us as we get everyone’s exemption entered in the system. We will get them entered correctly for each student.
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to call or email us.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Elroy
