Campus notes
Language celebrations (Lunar New Year, Francophonie, Hispanic Heritage)
Going forward, language celebration performances for families will be held in the morning at Lower Campus, and in the afternoon at Upper Campus.
Lunar New Year: The year's Lunar New Year celebrations will take place on Friday, January 30, at 8:30am at LC, and 1:30pm at UC. Families of Mandarin track students are welcome to attend.
Lower Campus
Morning Arrival at LC
Prior to 7:25am, if there are no GLOBE faculty or staff members in the parking lot to manage the waiting lines, please do not pull into the very end of an existing line in order to essentially get ahead of others who arrived earlier. Instead, drivers are asked to form a new line to the left of existing ones.
Volunteer support required for a visit by the French Embassy
We are in need of a Parent Volunteer to help with coffee during a visit by the French Embassy on January 29, from 8:10am to 8:40am. Please reach out to Ms. Daniel, Director of Language Program, if you are able to assist. Thank you.
Upper Campus
Upper Campus Carpool
A couple of reminders about morning and afternoon carpool at Upper Campus:
There is no left turn permitted when exiting the parking lot. This is so we can move vehicles out of the parking lot while also keeping our staff, who are directing traffic, as safe as possible. Turning around in Mary Scott Nature Park also backs up traffic on Briarcliff. Consider looking for an alternative route after leaving the UC parking lot.
In the morning, students are considered TARDY if they are NOT in their classrooms at 8:30am. That means that even if you are in carpool at 8:30am, your child will be marked TARDY either by their homeroom teacher, or the front office.
Morning carpool closes promptly at 8:30am. This means that if you pull into the parking lot at 8:28am, your child will not make it into their classrooms by 8:30am. Staff must come back into the building to prepare for the school day and cannot continue carpool past this time.
Photo day on January 22
Thursday, January 22, is photo day for winter sports teams, band, and some clubs at UC.
Impact Owls - GLOBE Community Service Class
The Impact Owls are collecting menstrual pads for our students at Upper Campus. If you are able to help, please deliver them to the front office in the morning, or hand them to an Impact Owl when they are at morning drop off over the next couple of weeks! Thanks so much.
Last week, our Impact Owls took a trip to pack meals at Open Hand. We discovered how food can be used as medicine and learned more about their mission as we helped pack and seal over 2000 meals. Thanks to Open Hand for having us!
All-State Band and Orchestra audition results are in!
Congratulations to Daniel Hernandez (saxophone) and Kevin Soto-Pineda (double bass) for being selected to represent GLOBE at the state level. This is not an easy feat, and we are so proud of our young musicians!
They will get together in Athens in March to prepare music with other top students from Georgia, and will put on a concert for members of the Georgia Music Educators’ Association, friends, and family. Thank you Daniel and Kevin for your hard work!
Operations

Summer Language Camp 2026
We will be operating our annual Summer Language Camp program in June of 2026 for grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. We will be having all three languages available for all three weeks. The weeks will be June 8, June 15, and June 22. Registration details will be announced in the near future. If you have any questions, please email the summer camp team.
School Clinic
Flu cases, as well as other respiratory illnesses, are on the rise in metro Atlanta. If your student is not feeling well, please ensure they are well enough to actually be at school. Please also review the Fever and Vomit policies located in the family handbook on page 17.
Flu A (H3N2) is circulating on campus. Symptoms are rapid onset, and include a headache, nausea/vomiting, and a sudden high fever, sometimes as high as 104 degrees F/40 degrees C. If your student is showing any of these symptoms please keep them at home while they recover. Please also make sure the school can contact you quickly in the event your child becomes ill.
Click here for information about the benefits of the flu vaccine.
Help us keep the transmission of cold and flu viruses to a minimum by encouraging regular hand washing, by not sharing food at school, and covering your nose and mouth when sneezing.
