The Dawg Dispatch

The Dawg Dispatch is your weekly behind-the-scenes look at the Aberdeen School District. From student achievements and classroom highlights to upcoming events and important announcements, we're keeping our families, staff, and community connected as we celebrate another blockbuster year. It's our time to shine!

Sweet success deserves a sweet treat!

Students in Mrs. Williams’ Math class and Mrs. Walker’s ELA class were celebrated for earning the Top 10 Benchmark Scores on their first nine weeks assessments!

Mrs. Williams’ Math students were rewarded with delicious Bundt cakes! A special THANK YOU to Ms. Arlene Gettys for her generous monetary donation to help purchase the cakes for our top scorers!

Mrs. Walker’s ELA students also enjoyed a sweet celebration with delicious homemade cakes baked with love by Mrs. Walker herself!

Congratulations to all of our top scorers! Your hard work, dedication, and determination have paid off, and we are so proud of your accomplishments!

Keep working hard, aiming high, and showing everyone what our Bullpups can do!

Mrs. Sykes’ 10th graders in English 2 brought a brilliant mix of creativity and critical analysis to our recent Halloween project! Students were challenged to transform pumpkins into visual representations of iconic characters from our course readings, classic literature, and influential cinema.

This hands-on project required students to move beyond surface-level traits and dig deep into complex character psychology, symbolism, and thematic elements. They did a phenomenal job translating abstract literary concepts—like internal conflict, tragic flaws, and archetypes—into tangible, three-dimensional designs. Students also practiced their persuasive speaking skills by defending their design choices to their peers.

We are incredibly impressed by their maturity, artistic execution, and analytical depth. (These are the pumpkins that made it to the final round to be judged one last time before announcing winners!)

ASD Board Member Vonsha Ewing recently enjoyed reading to a kindergarten class at Aberdeen Elementary School. The young scholars were attentive, eager to participate, and ready with answers to her questions!

Thank you, Ms. Ewing, for sharing your time and encouraging a love of reading. Your visit is a reminder of the difference we can make when we show up and support our students.

Every Hero Solves Problems
Every great movie has challenges to overcome. When your child encounters obstacles, encourage them to think through possible solutions rather than solving the problem for them. Building resilience prepares them for success both in school and in life.

We love celebrating the positive spirit in our district! Take a moment to lift up a student, staff member, or community member by sharing a kind word through our “Give a Bulldawg a Compliment” form.

Aberdeen School District Athletics is excited to announce that advertising opportunities are now available for the 2026–2027 athletic season.

Local businesses, families, and community members are invited to support our student-athletes by purchasing advertising space for the upcoming year. These sponsorship opportunities help enhance the athletic experience for our students while providing valuable visibility for supporters throughout the season.

Parents also have the opportunity to recognize their student-athletes through special Bulldawg Shout-Outs, a great way to celebrate and encourage students as they compete and represent Aberdeen School District.

Individuals and businesses interested in securing an advertising spot should contact Ms. Lenoir at the ASD Central Office or Coach Alex Williams, Athletic Director at Aberdeen High School, for additional information.

We encourage our community to join us in supporting Bulldawg Athletics as we prepare for another exciting year of competition, school spirit, and student success.
