Principal Update 6/3/24
I hope that you had a terrific weekend. My family has had a flurry of events over the past several weeks between birthdays and my son's graduation from Blackstone Valley Tech. I am looking forward to the final two weeks of school with your children and look forward to finding many ways to celebrate the successful year that we have had.
Today your children will participate in field day. The weather looks fantastic, and your child are bound to have a blast playing team games, jumping on the inflatables, eating popsicles, and enjoying a picnic lunch. Great thanks to our PTO president and Field Day coordinator, Erin Valcourt, for continuing to provide our children with a terrific day on the field. And thank you to all of our families who are volunteering your time to help make the day a special and memorable one for the kids.
There have been many opportunities to volunteer at Memorial over the past month. Between field trips, the Book Fair, and now field day, we have many parents and grandparents who are looking to be a part of the events with the students. It is important that everyone understands why we ask for advance notice if you are hoping to volunteer. CORI forms are required for every person who comes into the building. They are simple to complete, but do take a bit of time to clear. Every organization must complete their own checks. The information cannot be shared between organizations, and parents cannot complete one outside of the district and bring it in. These rules are in place simply to keep your children safe. We maintain a database of CORI forms in the main office. If you sign up ahead of time to volunteer, and you do not have a CORI form on file, our administrative assistants are able to help you acquire one so that you can volunteer without issues. If you do not sign up ahead of time and show up unexpectedly, we are unable to allow you to volunteer if you do not have a current CORI. I bring all of this up because we had to turn several people away from the book fair, and I know that was frustrating. I also know that Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Johnson try their best to avoid those situations. CORI forms are good for 3 years. So if you completed one when your child was in kindergarten, you would need to reapply in third grade. Many parents complete one ahead of field day, so that also means that in year three, it is possible that your CORI may expire days before or after this year's field day. By signing up to volunteer ahead of time, we can avoid the unfortunate situation of having to turn you away. We want all of our families to be able to volunteer and enjoy the events at school with your children.
Have a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Wendy

School Hours
Our school hours are 8:45am-3:15pm. Drop off begins at 8:45 and students who arrive after 9:00am are considered tardy. We will begin dismissal right around 3:15pm.
Due to the hectic nature of the late afternoon, we will no longer be allowing parent dismissals from the main office after 2:45pm. If your child has an appointment, please plan to dismiss him/her earlier, or make use of our pick up line at 3:15pm. Thank you for understanding.
