Dear KMS Families,

As we head into the final stretch, we want to make sure every family has the information they need. If your student has any failing quarter grades, Credit Recovery is the only way to make them up this year. Students need a yearly average of 60 or better in ELA, Reading, Writing, and Math to avoid summer school or repeating a class. A quick grade check now can save a lot of stress later.

We also want families to know that students with failing grades and/or Tier II or Tier III behavioral referrals may not be eligible for some end-of-year activities. There is still time to turn things around, and we are here to help make that happen. Please reach out to the office if you want more information.

We also want to invite all families to the following Parent Forum:

Your Voice Matters: A KMS Parent Forum

Thursday, June 4 | 6:00–7:00 PM

Kodiak Middle School Library

Kodiak Middle School invites parents and guardians to join us for an open community conversation about KMS. This forum is an opportunity for families to share what they believe is working well at our school, as well as areas where we can continue to grow and improve.

This evening is not intended to be a presentation by school administration, but rather a chance for us to listen to the voices, experiences, and perspectives of our KMS community. Our goal is to strengthen our partnership with families and continue building the best possible experience for students.

Food and drinks will be provided.

We hope you will join us and share your voice.

In Partnership,

Judith Bruns, Principal

Pam Gray, Assistant Principal

KMS GUIDELINES TO SUCCESS: STUDENTS OF THE QUARTER

Kodiak Middle School’s Guidelines for Success represent the core values that shape our school community: Respect, Integrity, Citizenship, and Kindness (R.I.C.K.). Each quarter, staff members focus on one of these guidelines and select one student from each grade who has consistently demonstrated that value in their actions, attitude, and interactions with others.

For Quarter 3, our focus was on Citizenship, and we are proud to recognize Emma McCormack (6th grade), Troy Edwards (7th grade), and Olvis Rodas Lozano (8th grade) as outstanding examples of what it means to be a great citizen at KMS.

As we move into Quarter 4, our focus will shift to Integrity, encouraging students to continue building a positive and supportive school culture.
