Tech You Can Do ... this week
January 9, 2023
📄 PDF to Google Doc You Can Do (& why you should!)
I am re-sharing this specifically because this has become a very important process in my district. We have noticed an influx of students who do not speak English and in a small district like ours, we don't have tons of resources, yet. Being able to take work we already have - regardless of what file type it is - and being able to take all or part of it and being able to do with it what needs to be done to work for our newest students, is invaluable.
And I can't stress enough how important it is to give ALL of our students files in a manner that will allow them to use the extensions or tools that support their learning.
📚 Best Books of 2022 (Common Sense Media)
Who doesn't love a good list? I know I do!
Common Sense Media has shared out their list for the best books of 2022. I love this and in this share, I make some suggestions as to how to use this list in your classroom.

Teacher Tip: Keep on Learning
What do you do when your plans go south ... and there is nothing you can do? You keep on learning and, sometimes, you find something even better!

Templates for Teachers
TEMPLATE for Student Planner
These days, many schools are making the decision to not purchase paper planners. That's ok! Are you looking for a digital version for your students to check out? Beginning of the semester/grading period is a great time to try it out & I've got one for you. (I created this for my own daughter.)
And honestly, if you or your students prefer a paper notebook - any notebook will do. It can be a regular notebook or it can be a super fancy one you buy at an office supply store.

Wakelet
ELL/ESL Resources
As I mentioned in my 1st share, we are seeing a growing population of ELL/ESL students so I created this Wakelet to collect and share out resources easily.

Toolbar Practice
This slide deck was shared out in one of the email groups I'm part of and it's a keeper! Use this to help teach your students about the toolbars in Google Slides.
I only wish I could remember who shared it so I could give them the credit!
