Strafford Community,

As I walk our school hallways and drop in on classes, I feel uplifted seeing students and teachers back in the classroom, reconnecting and learning together! I want to recognize the wonderful students, teachers, staff, parents/guardians, and school administrators for a great start to the school year. I see happy and excited students and teachers as they teach, learn, and grow.

Please mark your calendars: Parent Teacher conferences will be Tuesday, October 26 and Thursday, October 28 this year.

Parent teacher conferences are a very important part of our collaboration between our schools and families. However, we encourage our staff to engage in regular communication with parents throughout the year. If you have any questions regarding your child's education, please don't hesitate to reach out at any time. We have the same goal, success for your child.

I have learned from my time as both an educator and as a parent, sometimes the only thing more difficult than being a teacher at a parent teacher conference....is being a PARENT at a parent teacher conference! We appreciate the opportunity to work and learn together!

Thank you for your continued support as we strive to serve each child in our district,

Dr. Mark D. Hedger, Superintendent of Schools

Results from the 2020 spring Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) and End of Course (EOC's) tests will be mailed September 17, 2021.

We want you to know how proud we are of our students. Teachers and students have worked hard to reach the standards that these assessments cover. High academic standards will prepare Missouri students for success both in school and beyond. The Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) Grade-Level Assessments evaluate students’ progress toward the Missouri Learning Standards.

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) publishes a Guide to Interpreting Results (GIR) that provides additional details about the content of the Individual Student Reports. The GIR is available on the DESE website at: http://dese.mo.gov/college-career-readiness/assessment/grade-level.

School Picture Day is Friday, September 17! Ordering must be done online. Parents, check your email for specific building ordering information.

Biography:

Hayley Frank is one of the most decorated high school girls basketball players the state of Missouri has ever seen. Coached by her father, Steve, she helped lead Strafford High School to 115 consecutive wins and four straight Missouri Class 3 state championships from 2016-2019.

Hayley has attended the University of Missouri the last two years and is excited to go back for year three. She went into college undecided on a major and found she really enjoys architecture. She was accepted into Mizzou’s program last May.

How did Strafford Schools help you with your current path?

Strafford schools helped me with my current path by providing art classes and multimedia classes that helped me find my love for art and creativity. The school and community also helped instill values like hard work and determination that have helped me to be successful.

What advice would you give to current Strafford Schools students?

The advice I would give to current Strafford students is to surround yourself with friends that will help you be the best version of yourself. Work hard and give your best in your classes and activities, but also have fun and enjoy all the special memories with your friends.

Strafford Schools is proud of Hayley Frank and all of the many other successful Strafford Schools graduates!

This week is National Arts in Education Week.

Arts education, comprising a rich array of disciplines including dance, music, theatre, media arts, literature, design, and visual arts, is a core academic subject and an essential element of a complete and balanced education for all students.

We are proud of our students who participate in these programs at Strafford Schools. We have a dedicated staff who devote time and energy to instill a love of arts education in each of their programs.
