The Standard and Core Values for Granville Athletics

We are introducing a new Standard in Granville Athletics this year with implementation of our three core values. We have worked with our staff to create these. Our core values align with the district's Portrait of a Graduate and embody what it means to be a Granville Student Athlete.

We will be recognizing athletes monthly who exhibit our core values as a department and each team will recognize individuals at their end of season banquets.

Please see our September "Do Right" and October "Win the Day" Winners. We are so proud of our Fall athletes and how they DEFEND THE STANDARD!

Sports Media Club

Our new sports media club is up and running with it's new advisor, Paul Kirk. Coach Kirk brings a passion for content creation and creativity with his background in graphic design. We are excited to get the students working on creating content for our social media accounts and scoreboard. We already had a few students run the video board at our last 2 home football games. We want to also thank the Granville Community Foundation for their generous grant to the program that allowed us to purchase two new cameras with video capability for our students to use. Here are a few examples of pictures from the fall.

Middle School Boys Golf

The middle school boys golf team finished the year 22-2. They placed 3rd out of 19 at the Mount Vernon Invitational and 2nd out of 15 at the Pickerington Invitational. The team was consisted of 21 players with varying degrees of experience who were able to improve their skill level during the season.

Middle School Volleyball

This season was super successful for both teams. The 7th grade came into the gym in August ready to learn, and see what being a Blue Ace is all about. They improved in not only skills, but also the intangibles like grit. They showcased their grit in a set win 32-30 (we play to 25, win by 2) over our rival Licking Valley toward the end of their season.

The 8th grade came into with something to prove as they were knocked out in the semifinals round the year prior. From day 1, they set their goal of winning the LCL championship and collectively determined their standard of focus and effort that they all held each other to. While we had some injuries early on, and some hard losses, at the end of the season the girls rallied together to fight for each other and the name across their chest. With 2 dominating matches to end the season, they brought their trophy home and will be able to walk the halls and see a visual of the hard work, dedication, and fight they had their 8th grade volleyball season.

Middle School Cheer

The GMS Sideline Cheer Team had a great time cheering on the football team this season! The girls showed their Aces spirit both in school and on the sidelines. Their dedication to supporting the GMS football team is unmatched and doesn't go unnoticed! Way to bring the pep and Granville Pride all season long!

Middle School Cross Country

The Middle School Cross Country teams had an excellent season.

The Boys' team proved itself over and over to be one of the premier teams in Central Ohio, winning six invitationals, including the prestigious McGowan Invitational at Watkins, and LCLs. With 8th grader Trevor Lott and 7th grader Bennett Cook leading the way, the boys' strength was their depth.

The Girls' team had an equally impressive year, finishing 3rd at the Middle School State Meet and winning LCLs. With an extremely strong front pack led by Moira Belles, Audrey Bishop, and Alysandra Carlisle, the girls won four invitationals and put up a perfect score (taking the top 5 places) at the Newark Catholic Invitational.

Middle School Girls Golf

The Middle School Girls Golf Team finished a 8-1 regular season schedule. The team grew in their love for golf while learning how to work as a team on the golf course. With a broken low team record of 159, the team shattered a goal they set as a group at the start of the season. We are saying goodbye to 4 wonderful 8th graders who will be heading to the high school team and look forward to next year with our incoming 3 7th graders leading the way.

Middle School Football

This season, the 2025 GMS Football team had 29 players in 8th grade, and 22 players in 7th grade. The 7th grade team finished the season with a record of 5-2. They scored 166 points and only allowed 46 points. The 8th grade team finished the season with a record of 6-2. They scored 224 points and only allowed 52 points. These boys have a very bright future ahead of them as they move up in the program on and off the field.

Boys Golf

Boys varsity golf finished as LCL co-champions for the season. They won the first LCL event at The Links at Echo Springs with a score of 317. They won the second LCL event at Chapel Hill with a score of 308. Will Heckman was medalist at both of those events with a 72 at the first and a bogey free 69 at the second. He finished runner-up as an individual in the LCL.
The team finished in the top 5 in nine of the twenty events that they played. Some of those events had as many as twenty-two teams competing. The team finished with an 18-hole team average of 320.9 for the season. That means the top four players at each event averaged just over 80. The win-loss record for the season was 205-107.

Field Hockey

The 2025 season for field hockey started out tough with our low numbers but the team persevered and continued with a varsity only team this year. This opportunity gave a lot of our younger players the chance to play in games they might not have originally been able to play in. This also allowed our upperclassmen to step up and be leaders across the board regardless of a captains title, they were able to form connections across the whole team. We finished our season out 5-11 ending our season with a tournament to #2 ranked Bishop Watterson.

Volleyball

The Granville Blue Aces volleyball team continued to show growth and improvement over the 2025 season. We were in the race to win the Buckeye Division of the LCL and took some of Central Ohio's strongest programs down to the wire. Our JV teams defeated some teams from some of those stronger programs and the 8th graders won the LCL Tournament this year, so we are very optimistic about the future! Most importantly, we as a team committed to re-establishing some cultural values of our program. The girls embraced each other as teammates and had a team first mentality. We look to continue growing and competing again in 2026!

The Boys Cross Country Team completed a successful season, compiling a 162-20 record in their meets. They won the LCL team championship, with Logan Miller taking the individual title and Callum Sproul coming in a close second. They went on to win the District meet and finished 6th at Regionals, just missing out on a State appearance. Logan Miller qualified for State individually and finished 39th, earning him second team All-Ohio. Logan and Callum both ran times under 16:00 this year – only 2 of 5 Granville runners to ever do so. The team brings back a solid group of runners and looks to improve in the 2026 season.
