Ms Sydney Zaunbrecher - Grade 1

My name is Ms. Sydney Zaunbrecher. I am so happy to be coming back to Gueydan to teach 1st grade! I am a 2016 GHS graduate and received my Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from UL in 2020. This will be my 4th year teaching 1st grade in Vermilion Parish. I found my passion for teaching after seeing my mom, Sherry Zaunbrecher teach at JOES for 20 years. I am so excited to be back to educate the future of our community!

Ms ANna Lafosse - Grade 2 Para

My name is Anna Lafosse and I will be the 2nd grade Paraprofessional. I graduated from Gueydan High School in 2013 and I lived in Lake Charles, LA for about 9 years and decided to move back to Gueydan to be closer to my family. I am a graduate from McNeese State University where I earned my bachelors degree. This will be my first year in the school system. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister. I also have 6 nieces and nephews. Landon (19), Aiden (14), Jax (12), Addison (9), Jocelyn (8) and Karsen (3). I am very excited to start this new journey and to be part of the Jesse Owens Elementary School staff!

Changes In Bus Routes

Karey Theriot M171

Mandie Yerrick M157

Delores Monceaux M179

No emblems, monograms, or contrasting stitching are allowed except for logos/emblems approved by school. 3. Sweatshirts may be worn over polo or oxford during cold weather.

  • Friday Jean Days will be JEAN ONLY - Shorts will not be allowed. (The only shorts that will be allowed will be uniform shorts)
  • Guidelines for Non-Compliance Failure to comply with the guidelines for dress, appearance, or uniforms will result in parental contact by the school. Further noncompliance may result in one or all of the following: in-school suspension or suspension from school.

JOES Uniform Reminders:

- Hoodies are allowed to be worn - when entering the building the hood will have to be removed from their head.

- Jean Days are for JEANS OR Uniforms ONLY. No Shorts, No Sweatpants.

Jean days and non-uniform dress days will be used as fundraising opportunities and/or for student reward purposes throughout the year. These opportunities will be announced in advance by the school administration.

Jean Days

● Jeans ONLY, shorts are not allowed.

● Uniform shirts should be worn with jeans unless otherwise instructed.

-

If you have any gently used uniforms that no longer fit and you wish to donate them to school please feel free to do so. We keep some on hand for accidents and incidentals. We will have a table available at Meet & Greet for anyone willing to donate/exchange.

Student Progress Center

Parents can access Vermilion School Student Progress Center, create an account and keep track of grades and attendance. Go to www.vpsb.net click on Parent, click on Student/Parent Command Center, and you should see the above sign in. If you do not already have an account you can Register New User. You will need a PSN number to set up your account. You may contact the school for that information by emailing your request for your PSN number. Make sure to state who will be creating the account because each guardian has a different number. verna.broussard@vpsb.net OR shana.boudreaux@vpsb.net.

BETA News

4th and 5th grade parents: Beta Club invitations will be going home within the first 2 weeks of school.
