Families will start their evening in the auditorium. After the opening remarks, they will follow their child's Day 4 schedule. Below is what families can expect as it relates to their child's schedule for the evening. In addition, please see a BLANK version of the schedule for your information.

  • An email of the student's day 4 schedule will be sent home Thursday.
  • We will have counselors available to provide hard copies of schedules available for families who need one as they enter the building Thursday.

Here is the schedule for the evening:

4) [NEW] Impact Aid Survey October 1 - October 31

As we do each October, we are asking for parent/guardian cooperation in filling out a survey form to meet the requirements of Public Law 874. Under the provisions of Public Law 874, Bedford Public Schools must conduct an annual Military Impact Aid Survey. The Town of Bedford receives a substantial sum of money under this provision, which lowers the cost of education to the taxpayers. Please help us identify all federally connected students whose families are Active Duty Military, live on Hanscom AFB, work on federal facilities (including Hanscom AFB, Bedford VA, Boston VA, Lincoln Public School on HAFB, Lincoln Labs, Mitre) or are Active Duty Military! Our yearly survey is fully electronic with e-signature. Parents/Guardians will be emailed a unique survey for each enrolled child. It is very important that all surveys are completed and electronically signed for each student, as reimbursement is made for all eligible students on a per pupil basis. We thank you very much for your assistance with this important annual survey.

For all questions regarding this matter, please contact the Business Office at 781-275-7708 for assistance.

5) [REMINDER] JGMS Picture Day - Friday, October 18th, 2024

The password for JGMS is JGMF24 and sent out to you via email as well.

Please click the link here or the picture for access directly to the pre-order site.

Please note, Hayward Photography will offer a pre-sale with pricing that is better than if you purchase after picture day. JGMS only benefits from pre-sales, which means that if you want to take advantage of the lowest prices and have some money go back into the school, you must take advantage if the pre-sale.

We are excited to announce that we are entering the 2nd year in our partnership with Hayward Photography for our annual school pictures. I have had a wonderful experience with Hayward Photography throughout my career and I am confident you will also be happy with their services.

All students will have their picture updated for our student database and yearbook. In addition, the pictures serve as an opportunity for families to purchase pictures of their children through the years. Purchasing pictures is not a requirement however it's worth sharing that a percentage of sales (up to 25%) comes back to JGMS and the proceeds go back to supporting the student experience at JGMS. So you can plan for picture day haircuts and/or an outfit, picture day is scheduled for Friday, October 18th, 2024.

6) [REMINDER] JGMS Fall Social - Friday, October 18th

The picture day haircut will come in handy as we are excited to announce that the next day we will have our first JGMS Social (formerly known as dances) on Friday, October 18th from 6:00-8:00pm!

The ticket price for the JGMS Social is $20 and this covers a variety of expenses including cost of the refreshments for students, DJ, custodians, and accessories that make the evening special. In addition to being a great opportunity for students to gather, additional funds raised also serves as a scholarship fundraiser for field trips including Washington, DC, Nature's Classroom, and the planned 7th grade trips.

We will sell tickets at lunch leading up to the event and will announce a time frame at a later date.

Please note that in order to ensure students are accounted for once they enter the building, it is our expectation that students will remain at the social for its entirety. Once inside, students are not permitted to leave the building unless prearranged with the principal or assistant principal ahead of time. Students may also call their parent and wait for a staff member to verify verifies a parent is picking up their child.

10) [REMINDER] Cell Phone and Smart Watch Policy

Many schools in the country are struggling with student cell phone use during school hours. I am proud to say that JGMS is ahead of the curve on cell phone use in school. We ask that student cell phones and other electronic devices be turned off upon entering JGMS, kept out of sight, and should be stored in student lockers until the end of the school day. Starting this year this policy in includes smart watches that have the capability to call, text, and access social media.

Please click on the picture for consequences that we impose for students who are caught with phones. At this time, we are being lenient on the use of smart watches. We are taking time to remind students that they cannot be worn and asking them to put them in their locker at their next locker visit. Come November we will treat smart watches as we have been treating cell phones.

11) [REMINDER] Notes From the Nurse Back-to-School 2024-2025

Welcome to the new school year! Below are a few quick items of interest.

  1. Please contact me via phone call or email to report any changes in your child’s health status. It is important for us to have the most up-to-date information to ensure we can provide the best care and support for your child’s well-being at school.

  1. Permission for your student to be able to receive acetaminophen and or ibuprofen during the school day may be granted by completing the 2024-2025 JGMS Parent/Guardian Consent for Tylenol/Ibuprofen. Please take a moment to do this now, before your student has a need. Please note this is required for each school year.

  1. Please provide medications and the required medication permission form signed by both provider and parent, to the nurse's office asap. This includes scheduled daily medications as well as, inhalers, seizure rescue, diabetes medications.

  1. For students with life-threatening allergies and have an epinephrine device, please send in the device along with the updated allergy action plan asap at the start of the school year. The Allergy Anaphylaxis plan is required to be completed each year.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. The direct line to the nurses office is 781-275-3165.

12) [REMINDER] Dropping Off Items For Your Child

Ms. Cormier and Ms. Danielson are happy to ensure your child has what they need to be successful each day. In order to support their efforts we ask you use our cubby system for all items that are not electronic.

When you enter the main door at JGMS you will see a large wooden cubby where we ask families to leave student belongings. Chromebooks or other electronics have their own process however the process begins at the cubby. There are forms that parents can fill out along with instructions. Below are pictures so you will know what to expect.

You will see we ask parents to email their child that an item has been dropped off. Our priority is that our students get what they need in a timely manner and the process is efficient. To ensure the system works as planned, we will teach the students about this system, we will periodically check the cubby for items that need to be picked up, and also ask that you remind your child to check their email periodically during the day (especially if they know you may drop off their item) and check the cubby on their way to lunch.

13) [REMINDER] JGMS Attendance Policy and Reporting Attendance

Attendance Policy: Getting to school on time each day is a way for your child to show they are responsible. We will be working with your child and reminding them to give themselves enough time to get ready and to get to school on time. It is important that students are making a strong effort to come to school on time each and every day.

Please see our attendance policy.

Reporting Attendance: Email is how we prefer families report attendance or dismissals. The email address is available to all office staff and is checked each morning for attendance. Please let us know when your child will be absent, late, or dismissed by emailing JGMS_Attendance@bedfordps.org. If for a dismissal, please indicate a time as well. When we know of dismissals ahead of time we will have your child ready when you arrive.

Please note, the phone number that was previously used for absences is no longer being checked and the voicemail will ask you not to leave a message and instead, prompt you to send an email to report attendance. Additionally, you can also send a note with your child which should be dropped off in the main office prior to going to class. We expect this system will be more efficient for not only you, it will allow us to be more efficient in reporting attendance each day.

Help Desk
