To keep prayer at the heart of preparation for Confirmation, candidates will reflect on the following questions at our meeting on October 20th: What is prayer? How does prayer relate to Jesus and my search for ultimate happiness? At the last meeting, we watched a video clip from The Chosen of Jesus describing the Beatitudes as a map for how to find Him. While the Beatitudes and Sacred Scripture can be likened to a map with guideposts to encounter Jesus and live like him, prayer can be likened to the calibration of our hearts and minds, our interior compass to navigate the lifelong journey toward deeper friendship with Jesus. Confirmation candidates will also learn about Visio Divina and experience that method of prayer during the meeting.
If you want to reflect more on the topic of prayer, you are invited to listen to the following episodes from the Ascension Press Catechism in a Year Podcast:

Youth Group (Grades 9 - 12)
This is a faith-based group that focuses on Catholic formation, socialization, and service, for high school-aged youth. Eligible youth will be in high school or of high school age. High School Youth Group encourages youth to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ in a supportive community and empowers them to be leaders in sharing the Gospel. Through weekly meetings, youth share in fellowship with each other, pray with Sacred Scripture and work together to plan special events that help them to explore how their unique gifts can be used in the loving service of Christ and their neighbor.
Youth Group will meet on the following evenings in October and November from 6:30pm-8:30pm in the Parish Center:
Thursday, October 17th
Thursday, October 24th Firepit with S'mores, Outdoor Rosary and Visit from Deacon Bert
Thursday, November 7th Witness Talk on the Power of the Holy Spirit
Thursday, November 14th Friendsgiving Dinner

PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
