A Message from Principal Peguero
Hello Lancer Families,
I want to begin by recognizing the hard work our school staff have shown as we started the new school year. From our office team handling enrollment, immunizations, and attendance, to our custodians who meticulously prepared the campus. Thank you to our rec aides who supervise and care for our children, your watchful eye provides our students a sense of safety. Each member of our support staff makes a meaningful difference every day.
I also understand and acknowledge the frustration some have felt with class placements and scheduling errors—especially as we work through our tight master schedule for our secondary students. Please know that our aim is always to resolve these issues well before the district’s 20-day class balancing deadline. This process is designed to make certain each student’s unique needs are considered thoughtfully. If you have questions or concerns, I welcome you to schedule an appointment with us; we are proactively reaching out to engage families in these important conversations.
As we transition into our middle school schedule, I recognize that change can bring uncertainty. To support open communication, our bi-monthly Coffee Chats provides a dedicated space for direct, constructive dialogue. If the scheduled Coffee Chats times don’t work for everyone, we will now share updates through our Lancer Community Connection Newsletter so all families can stay informed. I also want to point out that it is important that concerns are raised in a respectful, collaborative manner—the forums listed below are the best place to connect with me and the team directly, ask questions, and work together.
Our goals as a school community are woven into everything we do. Striving to build strong home-school partnerships that support every child’s learning and growth, offering resources and guidance so families always feel welcomed and included will be ongoing and at the forefront of my work and leadership. I welcome and encourage parent involvement in activities and decisions, as we aim to create opportunities for students and families to grow alongside one another. I look forward to your presence on campus for CDC & Tk-8 Back to School Night on September 16th 5:30-7pm. This will be wonderful time to connect with our returning teachers and meet our new staff members as well.
Whether I am connecting with you at our Coffee Chats or through other communication channels—your voice and partnership matter deeply to me and to our school.
Warmly,
Emma Peguero

Electronic Device Restrictions
Electronic Device Restriction
At Avalon TK-12, we are committed to upholding our upcoming restrictions on personal devices in order to protect instructional time and prioritize our students’ well-being and focus. Beginning this school year, cell phones will not be permitted during the school day and instructional time. If a cell phone is seen or used, it will be treated as a prohibited device, and parents or guardians will be contacted to retrieve it from the school.
We recognize that cell phones are intentionally designed to be addictive, and we understand that this adjustment may be challenging for some students. Your partnership is crucial to our success in maintaining a positive learning environment. We encourage you to speak with your children about these changes and help them prepare for this transition.

Ongoing Parent Survey
You will be receiving emails regarding parent surveys throughout this school year. The district and Avalon School will be collecting data regarding your participation on our campus for different events such as Back-to-School nights. There are only 11 questions and should only take a couple of minutes to complete each time. Your voice matters—this survey helps us learn how we can serve you and your child more effectively.
