ROGERS REMINDERS
Friday, April 28th
News from Mrs. Penny & Mrs. Barker
CLOSED CAMPUS DUE TO STAAR TESTING
Pre-Registration for 23-24 School Year
Parents and guardians of current Frisco ISD students will receive emails April 4-14, 2023 with instructions on how to begin the registration process for the 2022-23 school year.
Keep an eye out: The email will include a unique snapcode and instructions to complete the online PowerSchool Registration process for each student.
If you have multiple students, you will not receive all of these invitation emails at the same time.
Families must provide proof of residency each year as a final step in the annual registration process.
Updated immunization records may be required to finalize registration before the new school year begins.
Field Day - Volunteers Needed
We are looking forward to an amazing Field Day! Field Day will be on Friday, May 12th, rain or shine. Field day is a day when all students participate in outdoor games and activities with their class. Below are a few reminders to make sure your student is ready for all the fun:
Students should wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing. They must wear tennis shoes. Students do not wear bathing suits on this day. We just have fun getting soaked.
Please send your student with sunscreen on.
They will get WET! Please have your student bring a complete change of clothes (shirt, shorts, underwear, socks and shoes), plastic bag to put wet clothes in and a towel. All items should be labeled.
Bring a labeled water bottle.
Visitors are welcome this day but you must check in with the receptionist and get a badge before going to the field.
Volunteers,
Thank you to all the amazing volunteers that truly help make Field Day such a success! All volunteers will receive an email with check-in information and their assignment for the day. If you signed up to volunteer, but have not received an email, please let Kala Ellison know (ellisonk@friscoisd.org).
END OF YEAR Class Awards - May 16
END OF YEAR PARTIES - MAY 18

Reminder - IDs Are Required For All Visitors To Campus
This is true for parents picking up sick students, parents checking students out for appointments, and parents coming for lunch, Mystery Reader, or GMR. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to make Rogers Elementary a safe and secure place for students and staff to learn.
News From Nurse Wade - LICE!
Lice are pesky parasites and although these insects cannot jump or fly, they can be transmitted from one child to another via head-to-head contact, or the sharing of hats, combs, brushes, etc. We need your help to stop lice before it makes its way into the school. Please examine your child(ren) on a regular basis for itching, lice or nits. A child with active head lice most likely will also have eggs (called nits) attached to the hair shaft. They are teardrop in shape, grayish-white in color, and very small. They are glued to the hair and cannot be washed or brushed out like dandruff. The nits are usually seen behind the ears and the nape of the neck.
Early detection and removal of head lice and their eggs (nits) is the best way to control head lice. If your child is found to have head lice, a treatment must be applied to the hair. Family members should also be checked for head lice & treated if lice are found. Please contact the school nurse as soon as you learn that your child has lice. The hair must be treated before returning to school, the nurse will check for active lice before returning to class, and the hair must be retreated in 7 days to ensure re-infestation has not occurred. Per policy a notification letter will be sent home to the classroom if one case of active lice is found in that class.

GMR Visitors Welcome! Must Sign up
We are pleased to open our doors for GMR visitors to attend our assemblies. Please note that there are limited spots available and a sign up is required to attend.
Also please note that GMR is no longer every single Friday.
Please make sure to arrive a few minutes early to present your photo ID and get checked in!
Lunch Visitors - SIGN UP REQUIRED
Lunch visitors have begun on campus and we have enjoyed seeing families have a meal with their students!
Please remember that sign ups are required in order to eat lunch on campus with your student. If the sign up for the grade level is full and a parent comes to eat lunch, unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate you that day. The sign up is linked below for quick access!
As a reminder, we ask that parents visit 1-2 times per month to allow all interested visitors the opportunity to eat lunch with their student. You must bring an ID in order to be granted access to the building.
Finally, we ask that you do not park in the fire lane.

Anti-Victimization Update
The kindergarten, first grade, and second grade classes have all received their Personal Safety lesson. They learned rules on how to keep themselves safe and what to do if someone makes them feel unsafe or uncomfortable. We talked about the importance of telling their trusted adults if they ever feel if they are being hurt. Please talk to your child and see what they remember! Let me know if you have any questions.
The older grades will receive this lesson after STAAR testing. I am still gathering parent responses from these grades. If you have not yet filled out the Google Form to opt your child in or out of the lesson, please do so. This information was sent by the teachers in the grade level newsletters during the month of March. Here are the links for your convenience:
