TMS Winter Collage Concert and Art Show🎨🎶
On Tuesday night, students and families gathered for the annual Thompson Middle School Winter Collage and Art Show, including student artwork on display and performances by the TMS Band, Orchestra and Chorus. Newport Mayor Xaykham Khamsyvoravong also attended to congratulate the winner of the holiday greeting card artwork contest, Zakyra Randle-Smith. Thank you to our TMS musical and arts team of Don Chilton, Dania Hadi, Brianna Boreen, Nicolle Icart, and Diane Sheehan. Thank you also to the TMS PTO for providing the yummy treats. A great time was had by all, and congratulations and thank you to our talented TMS student artists and musicians! It was a great night!

El martes por la noche, los estudiantes y las familias se reunieron para el espectáculo anual de arte y collage de invierno de la Escuela Intermedia Thompson, que incluyó obras de arte de los estudiantes en exhibición y actuaciones de la banda, la orquesta y el coro de TMS. El alcalde de Newport, Xaykham Khamsyvoravong, también asistió para felicitar a la ganadora del concurso de arte de tarjetas de felicitación navideña, Zakyra Randle-Smith. Gracias a nuestro equipo musical y artístico de TMS de Don Chilton, Dania Hadi, Brianna Boreen, Nicolle Icart y Diane Sheehan. Gracias también al PTO de TMS por brindarnos los deliciosos bocadillos. ¡Todos la pasaron muy bien, y felicitaciones y gracias a nuestros talentosos estudiantes artistas y músicos de TMS! ¡Fue una gran noche!
February 7th Newport School Committee Workshop On Improving Achievement for ALL of Our Students
The Newport School Committee will hold a special workshop session on Tuesday, February 7th at Pell Elementary School, beginning at 5:30 pm. The workshop will focus on student achievement, assessment results, quick updates on our school facilities projects and details about the tentative school budget for FY 2024. I encourage everyone to attend or watch the presentation as we live stream the meeting. We are asking PTO and SIT members to attend, and please send suggestions prior to February 7th or after the workshop.
As Governor McKee stated in his State of the State Address, we all need to come together to support our students and make a difference to improve student achievement. All voices matter, and working together I know our students can and will be successful.
So let’s come together as a One Newport community and focus on how we can help improve student achievement and growth!
Focus Groups With Recent Rogers High Graduates
To better understand what our school district is doing right, where we can improve, and what new resources we should make available, we are conducting a series of focus groups with recent Rogers High School graduates. Feedback from these focus groups will be critical as we work together collaboratively on our plan to raise student achievement for all of our students. If you are a recent Rogers grad, or know someone who is and might be interested to participate, please contact Aida LeVasseur at aidalevasseur@npsri.net.
