Educational Housing Updates

I am excited to step into the role of Director of Educational Staff Housing after 18 years with the District. In this position, I look forward to supporting our staff housing community and keeping you informed about important updates.

In my first Educational Housing Update, I will share key highlights from the February 6, 2025, Educational Housing Corporation Board Meeting. These meetings are open to the public, and you can find more information on the EHC website page. Meetings are held bi-monthly, and a newsletter will be sent the following week to provide residents with a recap.

On Thursday, February 6, the Educational Housing Corporation (EHC) held its most recent board meeting in District Office Board Room 110. To view the agenda from this meeting, click here. Below are the highlights:

• Welcomed New EHC Board Members: JUHSD Board Member Sherrett Walker and employee member Michelle Fortunado-Kewin.

• Valentine's Day Social: A social event will be held for residents of 705. See details below.

• Financial Review & Maintenance Discussion:

  • Reviewed Q2 Year-to-Date (YTD) financials.
  • Discussed maintenance and servicing for the Car Barn.
  • The EHC directed the Director of Construction and Bonds to review the warranty and conduct a maintenance service analysis.

• Waitlist Cap Discussion:

  • Considered whether to cap the waitlist when it reaches a specific number.
  • The EHC decided not to cap the waitlist but will provide yearly updates to waitlist candidates.

• Formation of an Ad-Hoc Eligibility Committee:

  • The committee will review current staff housing eligibility requirements.
  • Members include Briani Phelps, Mike O'Neil, and Michelle Fortunado-Kewin.

• Financial Wellness Workshop: The Director of Housing will collaborate with BLVD to schedule a Financial Wellness Workshop for 705 residents.

• Approval of Meeting Minutes: The minutes from the December 19, 2024, meeting were approved. You can access them here.

Please come by the Community Room to enjoy some sweat delights and refreshment on Valentine's Day . On 2/14, starting at noon, there will be goodies for anyone interested in dropping by. We look forward to seeing you there.

The next regularly scheduled EHC Meeting will take place on April 6, 2025. Public session begins at 6:00 pm (unless otherwise noted) and is held at the District Office building, 123 Edgemont Drive, Building A, Daly City in room 110.

A few friendly reminders from the Leasing Office Team:

PETS

Please pick/clean up after your pets. Pets are not allowed in the Courtyard/children's play areas and must be on a leash at all times. This includes cats.

NOISE

Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm - 8:00 am every single day. Be kind to your neighbors by turning down the volume on stereos, televisions, video games, etc., along with having quiet conversations, after 10:00 pm. Please walk softly during this time, too.

GARBAGE

Please make sure you are properly disposing and recycling any waste that leaves your unit.
