SHS EXCHANGE STUDENT HAS SPECIAL CONNECTION WITH KINSNER STUDENT
A special bond between Barrett H. (Kinsner 2nd grader) and Lilly F. (German Exchange Student spending this year at Strongsville High School) has developed throughout this year. Both use cochlear implants, giving them a shared language and an immediate understanding of one another’s world.
The local NBC affiliate - Channel 3 - recently spotlighted Barrett and Lilly - click HERE for their heart-warming story.
KINSNER 4TH GRADERS TRAVEL BACK IN TIME TO THE MIDDLE AGES
Kinsner 4th grade teachers Mrs. Goloja and Mrs. Adams recently transported their classrooms back to the Middle Ages, as they wrapped up their CKLA unit learning about this period of time.
Decorations included stained glass displays and student‑made castles. Both teachers, as well as some students, dressed in Medieval attire. Mrs. Goloja and Mrs. Adams organized hands‑on stations (archery, jousting, calligraphy, stained‑glass crafts) that highlighted art, movement, writing, and reading skills.
These activities complemented the students’ depth of understanding, providing connections between activities and the unit’s themes (monks, chivalry, castle defenses) with impressive clarity. This thoughtful, creative culmination showcased Mrs. Goloja's and Mrs. Adams' dedication to their students and gave everyone a memorable, meaningful learning experience!
THREE MUSTANG STUDENT-ATHLETES MAKE COMMITMENTS ON DIVISION I FOOTBALL SIGNING DAY
Congratulations to the following three SHS Seniors who made their commitments this week to continue their academic and athletic careers, as part of Division I Football Signing Day:
Austin Adkins - Ohio University
Storm Miller - Texas A&M University

All three student-athletes have had a huge impact on the Mustangs football program, as well as being outstanding students!
THANKS FOR SUPPORTING THIS YEAR’S SHS FALL PLAY - “THE CRUCIBLE”
This year’s SHS Fall Play (“The Crucible”) was a resounding success! Over 1,000 people attended between the two performances - more than any weekend in the past 7 years.
“I wanted to show my gratitude for everyone that supported SHS's fall play, The Crucible. I wanted to challenge the students this year with a dramatic piece of literature that not only connected with our ELA curriculum, but also pushed the students to examine character motivation, objectives, and emotional nuance. While I am biased, I believe they lived up to the occasion, and I couldn't be prouder,” said Mr. Jenkins, SHS Theatre Director.
SURRARRER ELEMENTARY HOLDS FIRST “MUSTANG MASHUP”
Right before Thanksgiving Break, Surrarrer Elementary kicked off their first "Mustang Mashup" event. In the Mustang Mashup, grade levels were partnered together (KG & 3rd, 1st & 4th, 2nd & 5th) and students matched up with buddies. They met for the first time and worked on collaboration and communication skills through different question prompts. Surrarrer plans to continue the Mustang Mashup throughout the second half of the school year and work on building additional Model Mustang skills, along with reinforcing PRIDE expectations through student partnerships!
TWO SCS GROUPS DELIVER FANTASTIC NATIONAL ANTHEM PERFORMANCES FOR MONSTERS & CAVS
Strongsville Middle School Chamber Strings performed the National Anthem at a Cleveland Monsters game on the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
Strongsville High School’s Cantorum performed the National Anthem prior to the Cleveland Cavaliers game on November 5th.
Great job by both groups - you represented SCS in the very best way possible!
MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MRS. SIOBHAN KURTZ, EDUCATIONAL AIDE AT WHITNEY ELEMENTARY
Mrs. Siobhan Kurtz has been a part of Strongsville City Schools for eight years. Mrs. Kurtz started as a substitute, before moving into a Monitor role at Kinsner and Whitney Elementary Schools. For the past three years, she has been an Educational Aide at Whitney. Mrs. Kurtz is a lifelong resident of Strongsville and attended Whitney when she was a Kindergarten student! She earned her undergraduate degree from Cleveland State University.
“What I like most about working with our students is helping them learn and grow. I enjoy seeing their confidence build and watching them understand something they once found difficult. It’s rewarding to know I can make a positive difference in their education. Because I mainly work with students in small groups, I am able to focus on their individual needs. The small group atmosphere has also allowed me to build many meaningful relationships with my students.”
"I absolutely love my job. Working here at Whitney is like working with family. The sense of teamwork here among our teachers and staff is truly something special. This year I've been assisting a bit more in the classrooms. I really enjoy collaborating with the teachers on classroom activities and lessons and being part of the learning process. Every day I’m amazed by the determination of the young people I work with. I can’t ever see myself working in another profession than the one I’m in now. I love everything about my role.”
Thank you Mrs. Kurtz for everything that you do in developing our students at Whitney Elementary! #ModelMustang
SHS AP US GOVERNMENT & POLITICS STUDENTS HOLD PRIMARY ELECTION DEBATE
Strongsville High School’s AP US Government and Politics students wrapped up an exciting month-long simulation of the U.S. presidential election process with a full primary election debate!
Throughout November, students stepped into the shoes of interest groups, political parties, media teams, and presidential campaign staff, gaining firsthand insight into how American elections really work. Their tasks included:
Researching voter trends and demographics in key swing states
Reporting on teacher-created candidate “scandals”
Designing campaign ads and political commercials
Researching political party positions and political messaging
Preparing their candidates for the debate
The students brought energy, creativity, and thoughtful analysis to every part of the project. What an incredible way to learn about the democratic process in action!
