Service Animal

From time to time, a substitute staff member who is accompanied by a trained service dog may be working in our building. We want to make families aware so that we can appropriately support any students who may have allergies or other sensitivities to dogs.

Please take a moment to make sure your child’s allergy and health information is up to date in Infinite Campus. Students who have been documented in IC as having an allergy will receive a follow-up email from our school nurse.

Whenever the substitute and service dog are working in a classroom, a sign will be posted outside the classroom to let students and staff know that a service animal is present.

A Reminder About Service Animals:
Service animals are working animals. Please remind your child not to pet, call to, feed, or distract a service animal unless given permission by its handler.

Picture Make-up/Retake Day is Thursday, September 17

Picture Make-up/Retake Day will be during lunches outside if the theater. This will be the last time that Lifetouch will be on campus this school year.

CHS Writing Tutors are Ready!

We have 80 junior and senior writing tutors who completed their training! They are ready to help students as they get started on a prompt or when they are in the midst of things or when they are revising and editing; yes, a writing conference can be scheduled for any point of the writing process, and for any assignment, from a paragraph to an extended research paper. These are not mere editing sessions. The writing tutors engage students in conversations about their writing, and they spend time getting to know the student writer and establishing an atmosphere of trust. Oh, it's just so cool. :)

The tutors are anxious to get to work, so if you would like to incorporate a writing conference into your students' curriculum, into their writing adventure, please-oh-please let me know!!!!!!

Thank you!!!!!!!

School Accountability Committee (SAC) School Accountability Committee (SAC)

User uploaded image
zoom_out_map

The purpose of the SAC is to provide accountability in an advisory capacity by informing, encouraging, and providing opportunities for parent and community stakeholders to be involved in the planning and evaluation of the school’s instructional program and quality improvement processes. The SAC makes recommendations concerning the school’s budget, performance/improvement plan, and meets at least quarterly to discuss implementation of the school’s plan and other progress pertinent to the school’s accreditation contract with the Board of Education. Final decision-making authority rests with the principal or other person or group receiving the recommendation from the SAC (e.g., the Superintendent, District Accountability Committee (“DAC”), or Board of Education).

Voting members include parents, a community representative, teachers, and the principal. Next school year, 2026-2027, we will be in need of Parent Representatives. Please consider supporting our school by being on this committee. All are welcome to attend, even if you are not a voting member.

More information may be found on our website.
