The Fowler Weekly
October 31-November 4
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Fowler Family,
We continue to work on and improve elements of our EASH plan, which is our Education, Accountability, Solutions, and Healing plan and is a part of the collective work TTSD has been committed to over the past two years. We have already rolled out our initial proactive morning meeting lessons regarding interrupting hate speech and biased comments and actions and will continue this important work over the course of the year.
Our Fowler Equity team meets two times per month to look at our current realities and is in the process of strengthening our solutions and healing plans for when harm is done to any of our precious Fowler community members. We are also working on more robust training and support to help the originators of harmful comments understand why and how their actions have impacted others by providing resources, time, and conversation to hold students accountable and to help improve behavior, language, safety, respect and responsibility.
Have a great week and a safe Halloween.
Andy
HAPPENINGS
Tomorrow, October 31, is Halloween and yes, students may dress in costume. Halloween is a normal school day and students are expected to attend classes and participate in classes just like any normal school day. There ARE a few guidelines that must be followed:
Costumes must be comfortable and allow for all classroom activities without disruption.
Students must be able to participate in all regular school activities.
Items to keep at home:
Fake weapons (knives, swords, guns, etc.)
Masks
Fake blood
Inflatable costumes or accessories
Face Paint (Small decorations on the face are fine, full face paint is not allowed.)
Our students are very creative and we look forward to seeing how they dress up! Here are more detailed guidelines that Mr. Van Fleet has shared in previous weeks.
Picture Retakes are this week on Wednesday, November 2 during student lunch time.
We have paper packets in the Main Office that students may pick and bring with them to the retakes.
If you prefer to order pictures online, you may do so by going to Dorian Studios, searching for Fowler Middle School, Tigard, OR and choosing retakes.
Finally, if you have already paid for pictures, but were not pleased with them, please send the package with your student and have them take it with them to lunch and give it to the photographer when they get their picture retaken.
This Thursday, November3, is the last for ASA. (After School Activities) After School Activities will return in January.
Homework Help, however, will continued on this schedule:
November 7 and 9
November 14-16
November 28 - December 1

Teacher spaces will be labeled with signs to assist you with locating those you wish to see. We do encourage students to attend with their parents, but it is not required. We also recommend that you bring a list of your child’s teachers so that you know who to visit.

CANDY BUY BACK. It’s time for a Morning Meeting competition! Starting Tuesday, November 1 - Tuesday, November 8, please send all that extra, left-over, unwanted candy with your child to school. It will be collected in Morning Meeting classes. Leadership students will gather and weigh candy and the class with the most wins a donut party! This 20th annual fundraiser, sponsored by Wilson Ortho, can bring in $1 per pound of candy, with a $100 bonus for collecting over 50 lbs. This is a regional competition as well, with the top 2 schools earning an additional $500 (first place) or $300 (second place). Sounds like a win win!
The next PSO Meeting is Thursday, November 17. The meeting will be virtual and will start at 6:30pm. As always, all are invited! If you’re unable to attend the in-person PSO meetings, this might be the perfect time to join us!
