SCHOLARSHIP UPDATE

Thunderhawk Scholarship Application is the common application for GRHS managed local scholarships. Contact Heidi Clairmont at hclairmont@isd318.org with any questions or issues. Due Feb 20

Eligibility: All graduating Seniors of Grand Rapids High School or Area Learning Center who are continuing their education after high school are eligible to apply. This can be a public or private technical college, community college, or four-year college or university, both in person and virtually.

Please plan ahead: I will be out of the office Jan 29-Feb 2 and Feb 10-16, so plan ahead if you have questions or are stuck and need some help or encouragement!

Juniors & Seniors are invited to register to take the ACT

• WHEN: Weds March 11th from 8am- 12:30pm
• COST: $58, unless the student qualifies for free/reduced lunch or if the cost is a barrier. Contact your counselor to obtain a waiver.
• LOCATION: GRHS LIBRARY
  
• CHECK IN: Between 8am and 8:30am

• TEST: Starts promptly at 8:30am until approximately 12:30pm; Late arrivals cannot be admitted after testing has started
• The optional Writing test portion will NOT be administered.
• REGISTER: By Tues Mar 3

• MN State Horticultural Society Scholarships are offered to students with interest and participation in horticultural/gardening activities. Ranging from $250-$600 Deadline March 15
• Short essay (at least 200 words) describing your involvement/experiences in horticulture and gardening.
• Copy of the application in the counseling office
• Alpha Kappa Psi Scholarship Fund Deadline is Mar 1
• Students admitted to the Carlson School at the U of MN can receive scholarships from $5,000-$30,000k
• Many scholarships hare given to students with financial need; must have academic excellence, leadership experience and involvement beyond the classroom.
• Students do NOT have to join Alpha Kappa Psi, a co-ed Professional business fraternity to qualify
• Become a certified Flight Instructor in less than 6 months through Purdue Global
• Accelerated Aviation Instruction allows students to become a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) in 6 months. Contact Accelerated Aviation at this link or call 507-383-5710

• Park State Scholarship Information Deadline March 2
• New Range Copper Nickel Mining for Excellence Scholarships (Previously the Polymet Mining for Excellence Scholarship) Deadline: Mar 31

Students planning on going to any type of post secondary schooling, college, will want to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA ®)

The application is now open and families should complete it ASAP! Students will need one to apply for the Blandin Foundation Scholarships.
