  • This February, Spring ISD proudly celebrates Black History Month by honoring the diversity that makes our district special — from students and teachers to principals and essential staff — all working together to build a community rooted in learning, growth, and belonging.

  • The 2026 theme, “A Century of Black History Commemorations,” marks 100 years since Dr. Carter G. Woodson launched Negro History Week in 1926. It highlights the evolution of Black history celebrations, their impact on society, and our ongoing commitment to ensuring an accurate and inclusive history for all.

Parents and Guardians,

Scholars are excited to share smiles, joy, and love towards their peers. Friday, February 13th is "Friendship Day" at Thompson Elementary. Your scholars will exchange treats and things in their classrooms. Please reach out to your scholar's teacher to get an accurate count of the number os peers in their class. This is not a party, but an opportunity to pause and share with friends.

Thank you all in advance for supporting your scholar's teacher(s) and continuing to partner with us at TES!

Padres y Tutores,

Dear Spring ISD Families,

Spring Independent School District is pleased to invite selected students to participate in Intervention Days (normal school hours) on Tuesday, Feb. 17 and Wednesday, Feb. 18. These days are designed to provide targeted academic support and strengthen student learning outcomes. Both days will focus on identified TEKS determined by academic data and curriculum analysis.

Students were selected based on the following criteria:

  • Students who scored Did Not Meet (DNM) or Approaches on the Spring ISD Release Exams administered in December 2025

  • If a Release Exam is not available, prior-year state assessment scores are used

  • If prior-year state assessment data is not available, NWEA MOY MAP assessment data is used

Students who meet one or more of these criteria will receive an invitation to attend the intervention days. Should your child receive an invitation, please ensure your student is in attendance. All regular hours, transportation and food services will remain the same.

These intervention days reflect Spring ISD’s commitment to providing timely, data-driven support to ensure student success. We appreciate your partnership and encourage participation to maximize this learning opportunity.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s campus for additional information.

Thank you for your continued support of Spring ISD.

Sincerely,

Spring Independent School District

The state of Texas has a mandatory Attendance Requirement of 90%. Please know that under the Compulsory Attendance Law, all students must be in attendance at least 90% of the time they've been enrolled in a public school. In order to receive credit for a final grade for a class, a student is required to attend class 90 percent of the days a class is offered regardless of whether the student's absences are excused ] or unexcused.

Please click to veiw the requirements!

TEA ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

Be sure to contact our Attendance Clerk regarding your child being absent for any reason.

mflore3@springisd.org

Appointments & Excuses

If your child has a doctor's appointment, please try to schedule it after snapshot attendance time at 9:30am. Any student who arrives after 9:30am is counted absent, regardless of what type of appointment it is. However, it is recommended that in this instance, you still provide the documentation for any medical appointments to ensure the absence has been resolved versus left unexcused. Unexcused absences do not tell the story. But doctors' notes and parent notes do! Please submit doctor's excuses and parent notes within three days of the absence.

Tardies

School starts at 8:05AM. We have free breakfast each day and students can arrive as early as 7:35am! Some students who are late, enter the room frustrated or off task, causing a disruption to the instructional day. Help our scholars learn meaningful lessons about life and work, by getting them to school on time to assist them in getting a GREAT START!

PLEASE ALLOW YOUR SCHOLARS TO GET TUTORING SUPPORT

Scholars received their 4th & 5th grade Tutorial Permission Slips last week. Thank you for signing and returning them. If you still need to do so, no worries, you can send it can be turned in. Even if you checked the "NO" box, please return the form.

It is imperative that every invited scholar attends tutorials on the outline days so that their score can increase from the previous year. The State of Texas requires ALL 4th & 5th grade scholars to make more growth than they did on the 2025 STAAR Assessment in Reading & Math.

You will receive a copy of your signed persmission slip for your returns. Please make note of the specific days your scholar(s) should be present.

  • Tuesday & Wednesday Tutorials are for those scholars who are at Approaches(close to grade level) based on academic data from The Texas Education Agency.

  • Saturday Tutorials are for those scholars who are at Did Not Meet (well-below grade level) based on academic data from The Texas Education Agency. More time is needed to support them with basic and on grade level skills to maximize their growth.

*******************************************************************************************************
