Dear Stonewall-Flanders Community,
At Stonewall-Flanders we believe we’re stronger together. Like the old adage, “It takes a village”, we know it takes a collaborative effort to help our students succeed. Every staff member does their part on a daily basis to provide our students the support they need to soar to new heights. A variety of staff members exemplifies this commitment, including our instructional assistants. From providing customer service to our teachers and families, to making sure students are safe during duty, to providing academic support in the classroom, our instructional assistants are an integral part of the inner workings of our campus. And let's not forget our amazing custodians, who daily make sure our building is a beautiful and efficient space to work and learn. This week, we honor our instructional assistants and custodians to show them gratitude for all of their hard work. Thank you for all you do. We appreciate you!

En Stonewall-Flanders creemos que juntos somos más fuertes. Como el viejo refrán, "Se necesita un pueblo", sabemos que es un esfuerzo en colaboración el que se necesita para ayudar a nuestros estudiantes a tener éxito. Cada miembro del personal hace su parte diariamente para brindarles a nuestros estudiantes el apoyo que necesitan para alcanzar nuevas alturas. Varios miembros del personal ejemplifican este compromiso, como nuestros asistentes de instrucción. Desde brindar servicio al cliente a nuestros maestros y familias, hasta garantizar que los estudiantes estén seguros durante duty, y brindar apoyo académico en el aula, nuestros asistentes de instrucción son una parte integral del funcionamiento interno de nuestro campus. Y no nos olvidemos de nuestros conserges, quienes se asuguran a diario que nuestra escuela sea un lugar bello y eficaz para trabajar y aprender. Esta semana, honramos a nuestros asistentes de instrucción y conserges, y les mostramos gratitud por todo su arduo trabajo. Gracias por todo lo que hacen. ¡Les apreciamos!

Coffee with the Principal/Cafecito con la Directora
Thank you to everyone who attended our coffee with the principal last week. It was an opportunity to get to know one another better and learn more about the services, supports and topics that interest you, our Falcon families, and that you want to know more about. Thanks to your feedback, we are able to plan future coffees to include some of these topics of interest. The purpose of Coffee with the Principal is to provide us with an opportunity to build positive relationships within the Falcon community for the good of our students. Thank you in advance for continuing to bring positivity and helpful ideas that contribute to an enjoyable time of learning and growing…together! We look forward to doing it again soon (date TBD).
Gracias a todos los que asistieron a nuestro café con la directora la semana pasada. Fue una oportunidad para conocernos mejor y aprender más sobre los servicios, apoyos y temas que les interesan a ustedes, nuestras familias Falcón, y sobre los que desean saber más. Gracias a sus comentarios, podemos planificar futuros cafés para incluir algunos de estos temas de interés. El propósito del Café con la Directora es brindarnos la oportunidad de construir relaciones positivas dentro de la comunidad Falcón para el bien de nuestros estudiantes. Gracias de antemano por seguir aportando positivismo e ideas útiles que contribuyen a pasar un rato agradable de aprendizaje y crecimiento... ¡juntos! Report Cards/Calificaciones
Report cards went home last week. Make sure to review your child’s grades, sign and return the report card to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. If you have any questions regarding your child’s progress, please be sure to reach out to your child’s teacher.
Las calificaciones se enviaron a casa la semana pasada. Asegúrese de revisar las calificaciones de su hijo, firmar y devolver al maestro de su hijo lo más pronto posible. Si tiene alguna pregunta sobre el progreso de su hijo, asegúrese de comunicarse con el maestro.
Pre-K Dismissal/Despedida de Pre-K
Thank you to everyone for your patience and support as we revised our Pre-K dismissal this past week. Thanks to our K-1 teams coming together, we were able to work out the kinks within the building to help make this a smoother process. Thank you parents and families for your cooperation, and continuing to follow the signs out front, as your organization outside is an integral part of the process, keeping the walkways clear and our students safe. Also, please remember that all vehicles picking up Pre-K students should join the car line closest to the curb along the front of the school, for safer delivery of these little ones to your vehicles. Keep in mind that Arrival drop off for Pre-K will remain the same! We will still be receiving Pre-K students in the main entrance every morning.
Gracias a todos por su paciencia y apoyo mientras revisamos nuestra salida de Pre-K la semana pasada. Gracias a la unión de nuestros equipos K-1, pudimos revisar el procedimiento dentro del edificio para ayudar a que este proceso fuera más sencillo. Gracias a los padres y familias por su cooperación y por seguir las señales del frente, ya que su organización afuera es una parte integral del proceso, manteniendo las aceras despejadas y nuestros estudiantes seguros. Además, recuerde que todos los vehículos que recojan a estudiantes de Pre-K deben unirse a la fila de automóviles más cercana a la acera a lo largo del frente de la escuela, para una entrega más segura de estos pequeños a sus vehículos. ¡Tenga en cuenta que los procedimientos de llegada en la mañana para Pre-K NO cambiaran! Seguiremos recibiendo estudiantes de Pre-K en la entrada principal todas las mañanas.
Early Release & Parent Teacher Conferences/Salida temprana y Conferencia de padres y maestros
October 9 will be an early dismissal day. This time is provided to allow teachers an opportunity to conduct parent teacher conferences. Be on the lookout for information from your child’s teacher regarding setting up an appointment for a conference.

Literacy Night/Noche de la Lectoescritura
Mark your calendar! Literacy Night will take place on Thursday, October 24, here at Stonewall-Flanders Elementary, from 5:00-6:30 PM. Each grade level team will share strategies and easy, fun activities you can do at home with students to support the development of their literacy skills. Come enjoy a night of learning, snacks and community!

Fall Costume Ball/Baile de disfrazes de otoño
Mark your calendars! Our first annual Stonewall Fall Costume Ball will take place on Thursday, November 14. This fun filled event will include a costume dance in the cafeteria and games in the gym. It will be centered around our theme for the year “Stronger Together.” Our students will have the opportunity to dress up as characters, fictional or historical, who have been an example of working as a team, or being stronger together. Teachers are having conversations with our students regarding the theme as well as costume ideas. Be on the lookout for our flier with more information, coming out very soon!
¡Marquen sus calendarios! Nuestro primer baile de disfraces anual de otoño en Stonewall se llevará a cabo el jueves 14 de noviembre. Este evento lleno de diversión incluirá un baile de disfraces en la cafetería y juegos en el gimnasio. Se centrará en nuestro tema del año “Juntos somos más fuertes”. Nuestros estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de disfrazarse de personajes, ficticios o históricos, que han sido un ejemplo de trabajo en equipo, o de ser más fuertes juntos. I’m seeing good Emergent Tree strategies being used inside and outside the classroom. Talon Tickets are being given away to students who demonstrate the Falcon way of being safe, respectful and responsible. Keep it up! We draw talon tickets every morning during announcements, and students pick a prize from the Choice Board. Keep SOARing to new heights Falcons! Good Luck!!
Veo que se utilizan buenas estrategias de Emergent Tree dentro y fuera del aula. Los boletos Talon Ticket se le reparten a los estudiantes que se observan demostrando la forma del Halcón, siendo seguros, organizados, respetuosos y responsables. Arrival Procedures REMINDERS/ RECORDATORIOS de Procedimientos de llegada
Please do not drop off students in front of the school prior to 7:15, as there is no supervision prior to 7:15. For their safety, we do not want any students sitting outside unsupervised. Thank you for adhering to our set procedures as we continue to focus on student safety.

Dismissal Procedures REMINDER/RECORDATORIOS de Procedimientos para la salida
Thank you so much for your continued patience and cooperation during dismissal as we prioritize student safety. As you approach the school, for your safety and the safety of others, please remain in your vehicle, and a staff member will walk your child to your car. Please refrain from parking and walking up to the building, as the increased amount of foot traffic at the front of the school contributes to a congested and unsafe environment for our students and staff at dismissal.
Muchas gracias por su continua paciencia y coperacion durante nuestra despedidad de escuela. Al acercarse a la escuela, por su seguridad y la de los demás, permanezca en su vehículo y un miembro del personal acompañará a su hijo hasta su automóvil.
